Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

I think Butler’s willingness to praise Belichick is due to the fact that Belichick never threw him under the bus, and took the slings and arrows for the decision. Many coaches would have justified that significant a decision and by doing so lessen that player’s value in free agency. Belichick just mumbled on and Butler got paid.

The mediots refuse to believe that it is really this simple:

BB never will throw a player under the Bus no matter what.

BB keeps all issues between player and coach internally. He always has and he always will. I think that is an admiral quality and players appreciate him for it.

Sorry mediots (Shaughnessy, Felger, Murray, Mazz etc etc) - he isnt going to tell you about it, its none of our business really. To me, it is clear that “something” happened and it put BB in a position of having to sit the player. Once that decision was made, BB will give his explanation and like it or not, that’s it.

Screw you mediots if you dont like it.......rather than trash the greatest coach of all time, they really ought to be praising the guy for an unbelievable job over such a long period of time.

PS - I just read additional comment Butler just made — Butler added: “I’ll just say preparation is the best way to win and maybe they didn’t see 100 percent mentally or physically [the] Malcolm Butler they usually see.”

The player himself admits he wasn’t all in....do you really think BB should have played him? Do you play him and tell your team, well, 90% of Butler is better than 100% of the other guys that are playing their asses off every day and are 100% on board?

Of course not, but my point was, you wont hear about how badly butler screwed up from BB.

There is only 1 Malcolm Butler.

We will never know if he would have made a difference. Some of the players said that something happened in Minnesota.

I don’t wanna get into this crap again. We had a long thread about the decision. He wanted to play and BB didn’t play him. He could have put him in for several plays but our defense got torched instead. I love BB but how don’t you go with your full stable of horses that got you there? The guy deserved to play his last game in a pats uniform on the field! He earned it in my book after that super bowl play.

I wondered if he’d be a one-play wonder. He wasn’t. Good for him. Wish things had ended better in that last game...

Whateva the case he will be remembered as a pat. He struggled at times last season but he played well in the second half against the jags.

You are right — i dont want to rehash this anymore either, we’re on to 2018.
Unfortunately, the talk show hosts and ahole writers in this town will not let it go. They need hits and ratings and as such drive the narrative solely for those reasons.
I get it, cant say I blame them, but I HATE it, I used to love to listen to sports talk, and read columns and blogs about sports.

Nowadays, I lio keep away from the jerks and the venom they spew......i limit my podcast streaming, reading, viewing and radio listening to those shows and that provide actual football content.

I’ll stick tofootball guys talking about football ( Reiss, Chatam, Moss, to name a very few).

When Bill took his first job in the league, a $25-per-week job as an assistant to Colts coach Ted Marchibroda in '75, he was given the duty of informing players when they'd been cut or traded.

For all of the noise about Bill being all business not caring about them, he in fact is the one who most treats players like human beings.

You don't want to get into it again but yet you are.

Malcolm wasn't ready to play in the Super Bowl. He's admitted it multiple times now but yet you still say Bill should have put him in anyway.

It's nonsensical

BB is in a classic "no win" situation here. If, as has been the case, he says nothing, he's a stubborn .SOB who in essence allowed his hubris to lose a SB. If he places the blame on Butler, he's an ungrateful SOB who made his player a scapegoat. Either way, he's f###ed.

For BB, i am quite sure he doesn’t give a sh-t at all....he’s on to 2018.

BB wins again!

couldn’t play him in the second half bill? Let that one hit wonder beat us in the SuperBowl? Your 40 year old QB threw for 500 yards and you still lost

But lets be honest, patsnumero’s response was exactly the type of post the OP was looking for when this thread was created.

Exactly ... Andy threw out his lure waiting for a fish to bite just to continue to prove his tired talking point.

For a while there it was looking like a butler appreciation thread but in the end he did get his bite.

Most of the game day thread all stars on here who have been pro Butler since SB 52 will pull their usual 360 once he gets beat on a play on November 11.

"I am worried and concerned that Butler got beat on that play"
