This assumes team discipline nosedives when the team themselves didn't even know why Butler was benched. You either start the best squad outright or if you feel the need to punish the player, you bench him for a quarter or a half and put him back in when it becomes evident that what you're doing out there isn't working, adjustments are needed, and the player is leaving in the offseason anyway. To not do that is to do what Belichick did and cost your team the Super Bowl.

Actually, I trust him to make the right decisions and, when he doesn't, I'm critical. Pretty simple stuff. I know that comes across as shocking on a board where some a generous percentage of the posters trust him to make the right decisions and, when he doesn't, they do mental gymnastics using generous portions of logical fallacies to convince themselves that he did. But that's the way it is.
