We know butler wasn’t practicing well right before SB49 (according to Do Your Job) either. Bill played him though, so it has to be something more than Butler not practicing well. It was the booze and drugs during Super Bowl week that did it.
Stop with the B.S. booze and drugs. Pretty easy to sit at a keyboard and smear a guy without any evidence. The team and the player said it was game plan related, it wasn’t booze or drugs.

And stop with the Bill bashing since you don’t know exactly know what happened either. Bill has lead this team to 5 super bowls and has been coaching since the late 1960s. I’ll side with him over a 3rd year player. At this point he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Let’s just say he didn’t sit him for no good reason. And butler’s poor practing and drug use is on Butler. I’m sure Bill has an internal rule about these sorts of things - that if you’re caught you don’t play. Making an exception would make Bill look weak and undermine his authority.

What drug use?

Where has there been ANY. ANY SINGLE Substantiated account, that Butler was using drugs?
Where are butlers failed drug tests?
Where are the police reports of a drugged up butler wandering naked into a police office?(Bill still played chandler jones after this incident)

So far the only claims we have that butler was caught with drugs, are forum posters with "sources"

You know who else had "Sources" Chris mortesen when he said 11 of 12 balls were 2 psi under the limit.

Butler said there was never an incident involving drugs.

BB said the call to bench him was 100% a football decision.

None of the other players, INCLUDING players who have left the team since, have said "Yeah Butler was drugged out of his mind all week" none of them have even hinted at it.

What we know

1.) He was sick the first week
2.)He missed his flight because of the sickness and got to minny late(Bill benched Butler for an a huge chunk of training camp after he was late to start camp the season AFTER butler made the INT to seal the superbowl)
3.)Butler and BB collaborate that it was a football decision

If you want to keep shouting about how butler was doing drugs all week, Provide an actual valid source or some proof.

IMO Bill has just Being Bill, and it cost the team a superbowl. There is more proof the BB just didn't like Butler, and his penchant for missing 2 flights during his time with the Patriots, then there is that Butler was high for two weeks leading up to the superbowl.

We know what happened. No one needs to ride around in the Mystery Machine trying to solve this. The coach, the team, and the player said it was game plan related. Why is that not good enough for some?

I’m happier then a pig in sh*t that we have Bill. Best coach of the modern era. But I’m not blind to see that he can’t make a mistake, which he clearly did.

If he were caught doing drugs and liquoring it up and practicing poorly and being too sick it means he wasn’t able to execute the game plan. That is football related.

How about a little evidence of him being liquored and drugged up before you preach it as gospel

I’ll give Bill the benefit of the doubt that Butler wasn’t ready to perform. Right now the anti-Bill folks think it was solely game plan related. We don’t know that.

Yes we do, Belichick himself said so.

I don’t think Bill would every play anyone who wasn’t ready. That’s not his style.

That said, the biggest single reason we lost the SB was loss of sheard, long, hightower, Nink and Rivers. If we had any one of them we would have won.

Ready for what? I would play butler even at 70 percent. If butler had play i think we are looking at a super bowl right now.

Here's the problem with your entire argument.

You say that BB made a call, and that's that.

BB says the call was solely football related

You say "We don't know that it was solely football related"

You are saying that BB is infallible one sentence, And then IMMEDIATELY devaluing his OWN words the next. It's kind of hard to take anything you say seriously when you sit on the fence like that.

BB saying it was football related about a guy who is about to become a free agent was likely to help Butler get his pay day. Ian Rapaport said it was really a combination of factors, some football related and some non football related. It was a whole bunch of stuff Bill probably didn’t want to get into in his press conference. And if what SBB says is true I can see why he didn’t think Butler was ready to play.

Correct, he didn't reward the entire team because he sat a pretty crucial cog to the defense(98% of the seasons defensive snaps)

I don't remember him benching Lawrence Taylor even though there are plently of reports of drugs and laziness during film sessions.
So why do YOU think butler was benched?

What did SBB say and who are their sources?

You have to ask him, but he said his source within the Pats said Butler was caught drunk and smoking marijuana during SB week. Again it’s nothing definitive but would shed light on what is going on here. It wasn’t just “Butler didn’t fit the game plan.”

Yes you just can't come to grips with it that a player could possibly be at fault.

I think folks would be able to come to grips with it, if there was substantial evidence that is was more then Butler was sick the first week and missed his flight.

I have a source inside the Pats as well, And they told me Butler was benched because he missed his flight and was Late getting to Minnesota, coupled with the fact that he was sick(the reason for the missed flight) And BB decided that was enough to bench him for the entire game.

Its that and fans who refuse to want to even consider the possibility Malcolm was not ready to play thus forcing BBs hand.

I'm totally fine with saying, "BB screwed up" but I'm not going to do it just because I'm looking to blame someone/something for the loss.

Now you’re just getting silly. It’s really shoddy thinking to believe a group of weak ideas become stronger if you put them together. It’s lazy.

And the “come to grips with a player being at fault” is a clumsy attempt to shift the perception that you’re being an increasingly shrill apologist here. It’s embarrassing and honestly beneath you.
