There was a period of time during my Sr year in HS my mom contracted Lupus and was in rough shape (shes still kicking at 71) so while she was in the hospital and my dad was there most of the time I ate garbage.

Swanson's frozen dinners were a regular item...

    Good to hear she's ok.
Swanson's Pot pies caused me to breakup with a girlfriend.......
Subject of pot pies came up and I mentioned that occasionally I ate them if I was rushed and didnt have time ( was in grad school at the time and working). girlfriend's brother ( in presence of her parents) said. " only white trash eats pot pies." Nobody said a word and it told me what they thought of me......
We broke up shortly after because she told me that her parents thought I and my parents were trash because my parents hadn't gone to college. (Dad left high school to enlist during World War 2, came home and started a successful business and mom worked for the Navy during WW2)..
Fast forward 20 years and I googled her parents... They were convicted of felonies for stealing from their companies 401K..... oh and I have a few graduate degrees......
I was lucky to share that with my parents before they died and they got a good laugh out of it....

I think what is wrong with him is he's just too small for single coverage.. Scrappy but small . Still think he could be useful in certain schemes .. he was good on corner blitz for example. He'll make some plays this year.. I wanna see if he bounces back with some good games...

Considering Bortles only had 155yds passing and no TDs, safe to say Malc wasnt terrible.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion. I can't believe I'm going down this rabbit hole again but I disagree with yours. My disagreement is based on what I believe to be facts. 1. BB did not want to lose the SB, can we all agree on this? And 2. BB always does what he feels will put the Patriots in the best position to win (this year, last year, two years from now, ten years ago).

Not a fact but speculation (because no one on this board knows all of the facts). Butler either violated a rule or possibly dogged it in practice. I know the argument here is you throw all of that out the window to win this game. A very reasonable stance (one that I cursed about myself that night and the day after). But BB lives and dies with the system. He wins a lot with the system and unfortunately loses some with the system. BB believes that sticking with the system is best for the today, tomorrow and in 2 years. The minute he bends a rule it sends a message to the other players. In turn some begin to stop complying and it all goes to sh!t. (**see Wrecks Ryan who lost the Bills locker room his first year, one year after he lost the Jets locker room). The players had zero respect him and it showed on the scoreboard.

The point is ...there are many unknowns. Does the loss burn me? Yep. Do I think BB was doing what he thought was best for the Patriots? Phuck yeah. Glad to debate any reasonable responses.

This is just my opinion. For the record I would have given anything to see Malcom Butler in that game.

That's an evolved opinion like mine where you see the coaching dilemma. There however was a way to circumvent the loss of locker room risk. I point to the wes welker benching for the footsie comments as the teaching point. Having done that and lost the game, the more important point was to demonstrate the discipline while not hurting the team. Meaning separation from the game itself. Use fines and whatever else to get the message across since the perception that discipline might have hurt the team is losing the locker room in that respect.

So .. bottom line is coaching NFL team is tough job, and belichick boxed himself into a corner... Which forced him into tunnel vision and they lost. He deviated from his own super bowl example of putting in butler over underperforming Arrington two years prior. Put him in..!! So fault for that.. and also for protecting his benching decision by eliminating possibility of contrary evidence (had butler made a play....!).

Not saying they would have won. But as a fan the coach botched one winning scenario.

I love how fans refuse to acknowledge Malcolm wasn't ready to play the game and therefore create this big scenario of inner-conflict for BB.

I love how other fans refuse to see that the starting corner for the entire season could have been put in for the 2nd half (or even the 4th quarter) to change things up (or more accurately, revert to the defense that got them to the Super Bowl) and (possibly) win the game, whether he was "ready to play the game," whatever that means, on opening kickoff or not. Your blind allegiance to BB, no matter what was happening on the field (can we agree that it was a disaster?), makes this argument so weak and nonsensical that it makes my blood boil every time I read it.
