Mac and the "It Factor"

Like 70-3 worse? That could happen in a few weeks against the Dolphins. Will that be enough?
I can't remember. How bad did things get in the Cam year? I could only watch so much of it.

Unfortunately, I think we're going to see more of what happened last year, where after throwing lots of interceptions early in the season, Mac became very conservative and won't turn the ball over. But also, we're unlikely to score a lot of points. And that will finally answer the question of whether it was just Matt Patricia that caused the offense to implode last year.
If the offense doesn't improve wouldn't that be a bad look for BOB? It's pretty much the same players now as then.

After the Dallas Debacle, Mac is probably on a shorter leash and under a lot of pressure to perform well.

The worst thing about the Cant year was letting that blowhard tie Grogan's rushing record for TDs by a Pats QB. That one still sticks in my craw.

Maybe it looks bad for Bob, or maybe it clarifies that the groceries were just bad?

My thing is even if we end up with Caleb Williams, Bill is going to continue doing what he always does. Pay a bunch of special teamers, draft high on defense or miss on the offensive players, and supplement the offense with B and C level skill position players. Why do we want to trust he will do anything different than he has done for the last 20 years? I am ready to turn the page. If we take a QB top 5 and Bill has another 2 bad years then we fire Bill heading into the new QB's year 3 and he starts all over. Those are the things that kill young QB's. Constant switching of coaches, coordinators, and lack of continuity. I would rather start fresh all the way around.
Better too early than too late, and late seems closer.

Anyone who has concerns if the younger generation is soft and easily triggered must only watch Mac Jones or Zach Wilson post game at the podium.

Maybe the man doing the shopping left the list on the table, was winging it and bought all the wrong items. Boy, could I go for a WR sandwich on OL bread.

Not only does the guy lack arm strength, pocket awareness, and poise, his mental fortitude has to be questioned. Throwing tantrums last year on the field, going outside of the organization to consult other coaches and most recently quitting on Sunday night while your defense is playing hard

They don't come close to representing the majority of modern players. There's a very good chance that all of the players in the NYFL are tough, even now.

One of the things that concerns me now is the way players seem to be out to injure opponents more. Maybe the larger amounts of money has led to that mentality, but it just looks like defenders are always crossing the line.

I’m 39 years old so I’m not trying to give the I used to walk up hill to school in the snow speech.

While I agree with you, it's probably going to take another 3 legit turnover game for a switch to happen.

Crazy that N'Keal got 3 full years with the Pats. I'm thinking was that a group effort on the coaching staff to keep him, or was it an Emperor's New Clothes thing with Belichick where he overruled everyone because N'Keal just needed to "find a consistent groove"?
I’m not so sure about Mac, last season before the Ravens game I said he was in danger of being replaced if he couldn’t stop turning the ball over… getting hurt probably saved him a year ago.

N’Keal was hurt the majority of his rookie year, so while he made it three seasons he only played about two of them.

Darius Butler only made it two seasons, Chung made it through his rookie contract and they moved off both players. They don’t usually hang on too long but long enough to see what they need to see.

We just saw Zach Wilson play well last week for the first time… same draft class as Mac. You need to be sure.

Give Grier a chance. Hell, the best Pats QB play we've seen all year was Malik in that short cameo. Yeah it was with scrubs but would Mac have fared any better? Malik used his legs to make that drive happen. Mac would have eaten sacks where Malik made plays.

How much worse does it have to be? Sunday was abysmal.
MALIK, MALIK,, MALIK!!!

Imho, it used to be way worse... and I'm not even talking about relatively recent events like Bountygate which is almost 15 years ago, or the JACKED UP espn montages from 20 years ago.

It's way more obvious now because it's all in on-demand HD or greater. Back in the day, that 19" with rabbit ears wasn't crystal clear (I know people still use rabbit ears for HD nowadays but you get my point).

MALIK, MALIK,, MALIK!!!
I thought he looked exciting... and could last maybe 2 games before catastrophic injury the way he was getting hit in just a quarter of play basically.

The guy has almost always hit on his top 15 picks and we have a great defense. And for the most part, he's had a great track record with picking QBs. Yeah, I'm ok with Bill doing the rebuilding.

That said, I want him to get Higgins as he's the closest thing to a stud WR1 who will be available in free agency.

The Pats have been very good with developing QBs from lower draft picks. JimmyG, Cassel, Stidham, Hoyer, etc. Quite a list. Who do you think is better?

Yeah, it's funny. I 100% want the Pats scouts picking our next QB. I 100% don't want them picking our next WR.

No no no no no No NO!

Oh mama mia mama mia...

**** Little Billy Notgoat OR Al Groh's ****ing kid being the grocery-shopper next year. I mean are you two ****ing SERIOUS?!?

I think you're being a little hyperbolic. Bill drafted Mac, went out and got Henry and Bourne for him (among other high-priced options who just didn't work out). He drafted Thornton, who has amazing speed. I don't blame Bill for the fact that the health of the OL took a major hit in camp. I think if it were healthier, we'd be running a lot better, which would make things easier elsewhere.

This is the same guy who went and got both Moss and Welker after a year of terrible WR play.

Do I think they've made some terrible decisions? Of course. Moving Meyers is looking like a catastrophe and the lack of a 3rd down back is killing our drives this year.

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!
