Not to be argumentative, but is Nate Ebner more "successful" than Marty Bennett?

He got his ring. He wants to make more money. Maybe his retirement will be happier than if he had a few less million by staying in NE. I don't blame a guy for trying to make as much as he can make.
I'm not criticizing Martellus Bennett, and my successful comment was in reference to winning games and championships, not individual accolades or success. The happy part was in reference to the locker room. I'll started spelling things out more clearly in my posts.

Posters need to realize these young men don't care about "team friendly contracts, team loyalty" the way the fans do. These men want to provide as much as possible for there families. Most will choose to cash out on the biggest contract offered.

Don't expect the patriots to resign any of their big names if they lowball them compared to what the more desperate teams offer. With that said, I am praying we lock up Hightower and butler long term somehow.

There's a reason why desperate teams are desperate, and it's pretty directly linked to their willingness to overpay in FA. The Pats are where they are in large part because they aren't like those teams, and if the cost of not being like them is that we lose some very good players, then that sucks but it's the price you've gotta pay to remain competitive long term. Personally, Hightower and Butler are the two that I really care about, and Butler isn't critically urgent yet since he's a UFA, though I think it would be a mistake to let him hit the open market and once the 2017 season starts he'll have no incentive *not* to hit the open market.

Never had a 1,000 yard season (916 in 2014), never caught 10 TDs in a season (7 this season), turning 30, TE heavy draft. Even if this story is a plant, I'm curious to see which team comes near that offer.

I was pleased with what Bennett offered the Patriot this season, especially in run blocking, but he's not a break the bank talent. 6.5-7 million is the range.

"Buh-bye"!

Do you have metaphysical certitude about that?

There have been 50 Super Bowl winning teams that did not feature M. Bennett. 9 mill? Belichick will have 3 depth players for that and maybe a decent TE on a a rookie contract.

Too high and goodbye.

Seems like another case where BBs (reported) offer is right on the money at around $7m AAV. I'd love to see him back...filled his role perfectly and I think they could get 2 more high quality years out of Marty. Deep TE draft and all but we struck lightning and then some with Gronk/Murderer and even if they draft the absolute right guy could be 2 years before that pays off and being 3 deep at a super important position for us seems like a damn great idea. But totally understand if he wants a little more than makes sense, good for him if he gets it.
