Lombardi: The Jets want Brandon Marshall

Re: Lombardi...The Jets want Brandon Marshall

He's got some talent, although it's nowhere near the level that the people pimping him last year would have led you to believe. It's going to depend on his mindset and the coaching. He needs a lot of work on his reads, his arm strength is not as powerful as his handlers advertised, and he's terrible throwing the ball outside the numbers from inside the pocket. He's also prone to running out of the pocket, but he makes bad decisions when he runs out to his left. He'll need to overcome all of that if he's going to be anything worth drafting in round 1.

On the other hand, his line is good, even though it's got a couple of older players who won't be around much longer, and is overrated. That should allow him time to develop without becoming gun shy the way guys like Carr and Harrington did. Why teams didn't blitz him into the fetal position last year is something I'd love to talk to coaches about.

and some people forget the point that his primary target was only acquired in october.......just throwing that out there to those who think that brady needs to trust his targets before he throws to them

Re: Lombardi...The Jets want Brandon Marshall

As much as I hate to say it Sanchez is the real deal. Now you give him Marshall, with 1 year under his belt how in the world could any rationale person say he will not progress?
You can say he will benefit from it, but that doesn't mean he will progress, he regressed after getting Braylon. I wouldn't feel to good as a Jets fan with him as my QB. Maybe if he played poorly at the begginging of the year and finished up strong, I would feel better, but he started off on fire, and came crashing down.:bricks:

Re: Lombardi...The Jets want Brandon Marshall

4.) LOL!!! Yeah just like Drew Brees, huh?

Drew Brees is an exception to the rule. Most QBs 6 feet and under fail because they cannot see over the line. Brees is a freak of nature.

Deus -- Please tell me who on the Pats has the pass rushing ability to force him from the pocket and make him throw outside the numbers. Remember, this is the pass rushing D that made Chad Henne look like Dan Marino. You give any QB all day to throw and they can be successful. We have no pass rush.

See, at least this is somewhat fair.

I'm not saying Sanchez is going to be a great player, but I did see flashes of good-very good play from him.

I think those writing him off have their heads in the sand.

When the Pats played Sanchez in December this year, they forced him to turn over the ball five times (four picks and one strip sack). So I see no evidence that the Pats can force Sanchez to make mistakes.

It's a good thing Sanchez is 6'2. Just like Joe Montana and Steve Young, Drew Breese and Mcnabb.

its funny......I think some of these guys bonked me on the head for calling brace a bust since it is only his first year. guess the same doesn't hold true for sanchez who didn't even have his #1 WR until mid-season

Of course not, I mean what Sanchez only got them to the AFCG last year as a rookie...what a loser!

Re: Lombardi...The Jets want Brandon Marshall

The Jet's have more than closed the gap, they have passed us. I have stated this in previous posts, but the Pats are really hurting for talent. I have asked this question, but have received no answer; How are the Pats going to move the ball next season??? 1 viable WR option (who can be double teamed and made harmless), no TE, an OL incapable of run blocking and no threat at RB. Please explain to me where I am wrong here..

You claim that the Jets have not only closed the gap, but have passed the Patriots. While I agree that, in the absence of a tight end and a replacement for Welker for the Patriots, the Jets are in a better position at the moment, I fail to see how the Jets have done anything of significance to pass the Patriots since losing the division to them. What moves do you think they've made that have put them over the top? Are you saying that letting their starting safety and #2 CB go and replacing them with Antonio Cromartie was sufficient forward movement to shift the balance of power in the AFCE?

1) Marshall is a head case that even the shrinking Fat Man can't fix.
2) What would the Jets have to give up to get him? Certainly a receiver. If they say buh-bye to Cotchery not only would there be a fan uprising, but you will have a net gain of zero.

I hated playing Cotchery Good WR, Solid versus NE imo. Always makes a couple great catches.

Jets are all about D, Running Game and a QB that can only throw 10-20 yard passes precisely.

any pass over 20 yards w/ Sanchize is a huge risk..... 20 is a fair #

I gave him the benefit of 5 additional yards btw

Re: Lombardi...The Jets want Brandon Marshall

The Jets' offense gets much better with him. He's the best WR in the game. He was always a handful to tackle and now his routes have gotten more precise and you can't chuck him like you could a year or two ago. He gives Sanchez a huge target with good hands and speed.

If I am Denver, I ask for Revis, Edwards and a 1. Marshall's that good.

Sanchez is 6'2 1/8"

No he's not. I love Marshall, but he is not worth a 1, the best cb in football and Edwards. That's insane.

Agreed, just like Montana, Young, Brees and Mcnabb. The guy is talking out of his south end.

Especially seeing he is only tendered at a 1st round comp. Why would you give up anything else when that's all their asking for? The jets are simply trying to find a way to keep their 1 and package players instead.

1.) I was referring to teams in general, not the Patriots in particular.

2.) The Patriots made Sanchez extremely uncomfortable in the rematch. Hell, that game alone made Bodden about $2 million more a year.

Exactly.

Marshall is unreal, but I wouldnt trade him for Revis straight up. Revis is more rare than Marshall. You can find top level wr's much easier than true shutdown corners. Revis is an awesome player.

LOL.

It's okay to hate the Jets, but some of the posts I read here that reason out why the Jets would suck with Marshall is completely insane.

No, you're confused. That's the circumference of Jabba Wrecks' waistline.

If they were getting rid of Edwards as part of the deal it would sound like a good deal to me, but Cotchery is a wideout I really like, surprised that they think they need to upgrade on him.
