LOL! "We" did? In the first game, the Pats shut down the Jets offense except for one drive in the 3rd quarter. In the second game, the Pats defense turned over the ball six times. In two games vs. the Jets, the Pats defense gave up 23 points (the Jets scored another TD on a block punt in the second game) or a 11.5 point average, only gave up two TDs to the Jets offense, and 221 rushing yards (110.5 rushing yards per game average). Exactly how have the Pats had problems with the Jets run first offense.

Before you say someone moronic, you should stop being moronic yourself. The Pats did not have any problem with the Jets' run first offense. In fact, they did a good job of shutting it down. The reason the Pats weren't 2-0 vs. the Jets this year was the Pats' offense.

Ok maybe I misstated my point. I was trying to say that overall the Jets have drastically closed the gap, and adding Marshall puts them ahead of us.

FYI, just because someone disagrees with your opinion doesn't autmatically mean they are an oppositions fan in hiding.

You act like Sanchez is a bum; he's a first round pick and has a lot of talent. He had some rough patches as a rookie, but he showed flashes of what he can do in 09, and will most likely improve a decent amount in 2010.

Sanchez was absolutely terrible last season. Carroll was ight about the kid, because he clearly needed that extra year in College.

BOy, you really need to learn a little about football before you post. In the short passing game, you gotta run precise routes and make people miss you. Neither are Marshall's strengths. Besides, Marshall out muscling a 200lb CB is different than outmuscling a 240lb LB.

given that roughly 70% of the passes that marshall caught were less than 10 yards, it would seem that you may want to rethink things a bit

I would take marshall in a heartbeat.......and I would use our first rounder to get him......especially if the pats are in any way considering shlubs like golden tate or dez bryant

Thomas Jones lost his starting job in the playoffs to Greene for a reason. Jones looked slow and old at the end of the season last year. Greene has not shown he can carry the load, but he's shown he is a good back. That's why the Jets want LT, so they don't have to smack Greene with 25+ carries a game. They can also add someone later in the draft if they want, and they still have Leon Washington. The Jets o-line is so good almost anyone can run behind it.

The addition of Marshall will not have the Jets "abandon" their philosophy. That's really a ridiculous statement. Will the Ravens now abandon their philosophy because they added Boldin? In no way, shape, or form does it mean the Jets would be asking Sanchez to run a Patriots/Colts type of offense just because they have Marhsall.

You act like Sanchez is a bum; he's a first round pick and has a lot of talent. He had some rough patches as a rookie, but he showed flashes of what he can do in 09, and will most likely improve a decent amount in 2010.

People just want to make excuses to make themselves feel good. There is no way you can spin the Jets getting Marshall into a negative thing for the Jets. He is a top 5 WR in the league and would greatly help Sanchez. Braylon drops the ball a few too many times, but he'd be a very good #2 WR for them, with Cotchery a solid #3. Peyton Manning also made a ton of mistakes in his rookie season. I guess he's a bum too.

Try looking at it with some objectivity.

Sanchez is great if you limit him. He is a liabilty when you ask him to carry more of the load. The guy completed just over 53% of his passes and had 12 TDs vs. 20 INTs this year.

As for his draft position, by your logic, Sanchez is worse than Ryan Leaf, Alex Smith, David Carr, JaMarcus Russell, and Tim Couch. Draft position means nothing especially with QB who are quite frequently taken far higher than they should because teams are desperate for a franchise player at the position.

As for Jones, yes he wore down at the end of the year. The guy rushed 331 times last year in the regular season (the highest of his career). That doesn't mean that Shonn Green can reproduce that production or provide something close to it.

As for their offensive strategy, yeas after spending a top 5 pick on Sanchez and trading for both Marshall and Edwards, of course the Jets are going to limit Sanchez's passing to under passing a game. Why would spend that much capital on a QB and two WRs and actually pass the ball. Only a homer Pats fan would think the Jets would actually try to pass more than they did in the playoffs after trading for Marshall. They are only acquiring Marshall to be a decoy for the run. Are you serous?!?

but its a year later now, so do you think he's broken because he went to the NFL? or do you think the fact that he got to the AFCC would give him the confidence he needs to take the next step?

except that he avoided making the mistakes that would have prevented the jets from getting to the AFCC as a rookie. maybe he will improve, maybe he won't, but you might want to start with where things were left off.......he did not look bad in the playoffs, not for a rookie.

Hats off to your organization if you guys pull this off. Although many here fail to see the significance of this move a few do, and realize it spells tough times ahead for the Pats. Even if you guys have to give up Harris, is there any doubt that Ryan will find, and develope another LB to take his place? From all appearances he has most certainly over taken BB as the true defensive masterminf.

He's got some talent, although it's nowhere near the level that the people pimping him last year would have led you to believe. It's going to depend on his mindset and the coaching. He needs a lot of work on his reads, his arm strength is not as powerful as his handlers advertised, and he's terrible throwing the ball outside the numbers from inside the pocket. He's also prone to running out of the pocket, but he makes bad decisions when he runs out to his left. He'll need to overcome all of that if he's going to be anything worth drafting in round 1.

On the other hand, his line is good, even though it's got a couple of older players who won't be around much longer, and is overrated. That should allow him time to develop without becoming gun shy the way guys like Carr and Harrington did. Why teams didn't blitz him into the fetal position last year is something I'd love to talk to coaches about.

Posts like this are why I hate coming to this board sometimes. I know it's a Pats board but the blind homerism on here is disgusting at times.


1. Marshall is arguably the best WR in the league RIGHT now. He put up PB numbers with KYLE ORTON at QB.

2. Cro had his stellar 07 season when the Chargers actually had a pass rush. Hate Rex all you want but he is probably one of the best (if not THE best) defensive mind in the NFL.The Jets pass rush and Ryans coaching COULD help Cro to return to his 07 form. And if he does...that's one scary secondary. You can't really fault a team for picking up Cro when the Patriots have had the WORST FA acquisitions in the league the last 2 seasons...

3. I don't understand why they would let TJ walk and then pick up LT. But anybody can run behind the Jets O-line so it doesn't matter.

4. What proof do you have that Sanchez won't study film other than blind hatred towards him because he's the QB of the Jets? What if he gets better? (He probably will, especially with Marshall/Edwards)

He looked pretty good in the playoffs (as a ROOKIE). I don't expect him to regress at all.

1.) Marshall is a great receiver, but Sanchez is a mediocre QB when he is asked to pass more than 20 times a game. It is a problem with him, not Marshall. Marshall will give them a lot of big plays, but Sanchez will give them a lot of turnovers. I think turnovers hurt more than big plays help.

2.) I never liked Cromartie. I didn't want him with the Pats when it was the rumor. I have shown that I have posted BEFORE HE WAS TRADED TO THE JETS that he was not very good and benefitted from a front seven that could pressure the QB without a blitz and his season was overrated din 2007. The Jets cannot pressure the QB without blitz.

3.) We will have to see about that.

4.) Proven fact, watching game film will make you grow three inches. Sanchez's problems with seeing the field may not be his preparation, but actually the fact he cannot see the field. The guy is short and his problems may be that he cannot see over the line or defenders when under pressure.

The Jet's have more than closed the gap, they have passed us. I have stated this in previous posts, but the Pats are really hurting for talent. I have asked this question, but have received no answer; How are the Pats going to move the ball next season??? 1 viable WR option (who can be double teamed and made harmless), no TE, an OL incapable of run blocking and no threat at RB. Please explain to me where I am wrong here..

2) What would the Jets have to give up to get him? Certainly a receiver. If they say buh-bye to Cotchery not only would there be a fan uprising, but you will have a net gain of zero.

Carroll may not have had the player's best interest in mind, but he was right. He was only effective when they took the ball out of his hands in the playoff and picked his thorw very judiciously. Even in the AFC Championship game, he fell apart in the end of the game when the Jets were forced to allow him to air it out more.
