I also don't understand not wanting Amendola at the right price for the reason "we need to get younger at WR."
Beyond the assessment made by posters that "the window on Brady is closing and we need to win now", the Patriots still only have Edelman as a guarantee. Ok he's old, but they usually carry five anyway.
Even if Gordon is here, what's wrong with Edelman, Gordon, Amendola, FA, and a high draft pick. Then use the practice squad for maybe Berrios and another young player. If someone like Berrios or another young player is really good, things always work themselves out. It's not like this is a logjam.
I understand why one would not want Hogan with Danny or maybe even Patterson, but Cordarrelle could be a sixth WR, fifth RB, kick off returner and maybe they carry one less offensive lineman or work something else out. Yes they might be a bit too old than you might want if you were Cleveland or KC, but the next QB might work well with different types of receivers than Brady anyway.
We want #7 NOW. What gets us there?
