We looked really slow on D. Haven't managed to see the full game yet but seen some highlights and that's what I saw so far.. ah well all this **** talk about 16-0 can now feck off!

No real person was thinking they would go 16-0.

The Chiefs are a matchup problem for the Pats even at full strength.

I couldn't care less if we went 16-0 or we went 14-2 etc.. we were really poor tonight from what I've read. Sounds like the defence didn't even turn up in the 4th.. also sounds like when high went off we looked in very bad shape..

Lol at blaming the o line...they gave brady all day to throw.

Are you even watching the game ?

Those times were Brady had all the time in the world were mostly plays where KC send 3 rushers. He had time by design. When they actually sent 4 or 5 he didnt seem to get time to set more or less consistently throughout the second half.

People were excited over Marsh lol.

What are you on ? Marsh might have been one of the few encouraging things about the game given he was only here for roughly 5 days and was forced into a starting role when HT left. Might as well ***** about trading for Dorsett because he was so invisible yesterday. That makes as much sense.

Disappointing but not the end of the world. More so concerned for Dola/Hightower.

On to New Orleans.

The concern here is going 0-2. New Orleans has the ability to put up 50 on this team unless the defense gets fixed right quick. Losing Hightower, and having a gimpy Flowers, hurts badly. The corners need to do a better job and there was minimal pass rush. And the run defense was HORRENDOUS all game long. They got absolutely shredded on the ground right from the beginning.

They'll need to play well on D, which at this point feels like holding NO to 30 or less. And the offense needs to get a lot sharper. That, despite the loss of Amendola, is less of a concern to me. They should have put up 40 last night easy, but they couldn't convert on numerous third and fourth downs and very short yardage. Gronk dropped a TD pass. The refs let KC maul Pats receivers all night long, and despite the fact that they got called for several penalties, Berry alone could have been called for 10 defensive holding/illegal contact penalties defending Gronk.

The offense should be fine. The D will take a lot more time to work out the problems. The challenge is going into New Orleans, a place where Brees obliterated them the last time they were there (different rosters I know...still can't shake the memory). Brees is twice the QB that Smith is, and Smith absolutely ate their lunch last night.

They're going to have to play really, really well to win next week to avoid going 0-2.

Lets be honest.....they played awful.

w/o JE11 out there the offense looked erratic and out of rhythm.

The defense was completely confused.

We can complain about the pass rush but they only rushed 3-4 guys most of the night. Rarely blitzed.

Run containment was putrid at best.

Coverage was abhorrent.

Once game does not season make but clearly they have work to do.

As we've seen from this team historically the first few games are typically a shake-down period.

If they are sitting at 5-5 at Thanksgiving then there is cause for panic.

Ton of injuries on both sides of the ball.. and we decided not to qb sneak it on two fourth and ones. (91 percent succes rate) It happens. Sometimes we deserve to lose. This was one of those times. It happens.

Two guys over center, plus LB stacked.

Before the mods delete my post again because they seem to love deleting any posts/topics bashing the Patriots, even though they played like complete ASS, and deserve all the criticism they're getting now I'll have to say this:

I don't care about the previous years. This team got carved up by Alex Freaking Smith for almost 400 yards at their home stadium. That is completely unacceptable. Now imagine next week when the Patriots go against Drew Brees. Do you know what that guy is going to do this defense? He will absolutely destroy them. Look for him to having 450-500 yards if we see the same the garbage that we saw today.

This defense is the worst I have seen from NE as a fan for a while, and that's saying something. This reminds me more of 2008 if anything. This team will go 11-5, and one and done if their defense doesn't change. They will not be able to handle playoff contending teams.

This is really embarrassing. How the hell do you get blown to smithereens by letting the freaking Chiefs score 40+ off you at your home park? When's the last time that's happened? Hell I don't remember the Patriots giving 40 points in ONE game last year. They're 1-1 already in that category this year.

16-0? HA. I would love to know where those delusional fan people are. They're not going 15- 1 either.

GFY

I read this was the most points given up by the Patriots during Kraft's era since 1994. Is this true? wow? How do I verify this? I guess Bob Kraft saw something new today.

Hope BB whips these buys into shape. Seems like the defense was historically bad.

How do you verify it? Ever heard of something called Google?

Brady isn't the problem. He was fine. Not great but ok. They put up 27 points. Dola got hurt. etc.. etc...

I agree, I didn't see Brady as the concern. Gronk got hurt on that non-TD at start of game and sat out a bunch and didn't get open again. Hogan never got open the whole night. Dola was getting open in the middle but he was being targetted on every play it seems and then he got hurt. Cooks did well but he's a vertical player and relies on long-balls. He needs to learn or run shorter routes as well. We could have easily had 1 or 2 more TD, and been in the 30s.

BIG concern is defense. OMG. These guys were so frickin bad. Clearly we didn't get upgraded in offseason. Gilmore is as good as Butler was last year and Butler is worse in slot than Ryan was last year. So overall we have some issues. And Sheard/Ninkovich/Long leaving with their replacements (Ealy etc) not working, has led to huge holes in the team. High is not a DE. Occasional surprise pass rush is different. Brown is certainly a bust but he was nothing special last year as well so that's no change. Overall, a huge letdown.

@NO is must win now. Lose that and they are staring at possibly 1-4 or 2-3 after five games. The D just got torched by Alex Smith. What will Brees do in that dome?

Gronk didn't look very pliable last night. I think he might want to ask Alex Guerrero for his money back. Others have so it should be easy.

The commentators said it was the most yards ever given up by a BB defense.

I give it six games max before Gronk is injured. It's inevitable.

Accurate. Up until last night the most they had given up was 41 and that was a handful of times.

Gronk was mugged all night with authority no wonder he got dinged but yes he didn't look like Gronk.
Tom didn't look like Tom.
Only skill players that did their jobs is every running back don't know why we didn't try passing to them or designed screens or anything to get Brady in a tempo.
But Brady missed alot of throws let's be honest.
This is the man who's thrown passes to much lesser receivers last night he was floating balls.
Let's hope he just had a real off night and it's not old age.
The team had no fire no pizazz.
Gilmore and Mccourty are studs.
Harmon played well In the secondary.
Special teams coverage was good.
I don't know if Josh did Tom and favors last night.
But if I see more balls sail on routine throws next week call me concerned.

The gameplan against he Saints will be different than against the Chiefs. Not much value in comparing what Smith was able to do with what Brees will be able to do because they will be facing defenses with different objectives.

There is no doubt he is not durable.

Historically he has always started off slow.

Just gotta see how it plays out.

With JE11 out they really need his production.
