Re: leave it to Lynch to make a derogatory comment about the Patriots

There are some on this board who think they are royalty and everyone needs to bow down to them..one can't disagree at all. Even when one doesn't even understand what was written, if one disgarees, the attacks go out personal and otherwise. Apparently there are some that must do that if one doesn't agree, bow down to the ones that "KNOW it all".
But many are just rumpswabs for the media personalities in this town..and any criticisms are smears. Forget the facts, the context or other things. Get in line and think the same.

of course. you are finnaly starting to get it. but you will find the same thing at any team message board on the net

Re: leave it to Lynch to make a derogatory comment about the Patriots

This is fun, let the pissing contest resume.......

"Where were your comments about Patriots injuries in the Super Bowl?" 18-0 all world teams overcome injuries. The Celtics had Perkins, Rondo and Pierce, three of their starting five, injured vs the Lakers, the same Lakers who were heavy favorites in the series. The Celtics won the series in six games. Everyone said Brady was fine leading up to the Super Bowl, remember? Do you have some sort of inside information you'd like to share? So the Patriots weren't toast in the Super Bowl, they had an injured Brady (according to you Sherlock) and they lost the greatest lineman in the history of the NFL in the game, so that is why they lost.

The Patriots beat the Panthers in 2004 with Russ effin Hockstein starting vs a DOMINANT Panther D line and Brady got sacked how many times in that game? Try zero. Try to bring something more to the table as this is weak ass stuff.

"it took a fluke catch off a receiver's helmet for the team to lose." Right again; the game was lost on that one play, the other 59 minutes, 50 seconds of the game had nothing to do with the final outcome right?

You are unreal.

Tom Brady, in an interview on WEEI, stated that the plays were there to be made and that receivers were open. In other words, Brady made some poor reads and poor passes, and the offensive line picked a lousy time to play their worst game of the season. However, given that they entered the Super Bowl with an 18-0 record and had the lead in the game with less than 3 minutes to play, your argument that the team was 'toast' is just asinine. The defense, which had allowed more than 30 points to the Giants in the earlier meeting, allowed just 17, and you still can't explain why injuries are viable as an excuse for the Chargers but not for the Patriots. Now, you feel free to let fewer than 3 minutes of the Super Bowl taint your outlook on last season and the team. I refuse to do so.

"Tom Brady, in an interview on WEEI, stated that the plays were there to be made and that receivers were open. In other words, Brady made some poor reads and poor passes"

Nope, according to you, he was injured, that's why he had such a bad game. Now you're claiming he made poor reads and threw poor passes, so which is it?

"you still can't explain why injuries are viable as an excuse for the Chargers but not for the Patriots." The Chargers limped into Foxboro and still played their asses off. What are you babbling about; MY POINT was that with the injuries to their three best players, the Patriots should have blown them off the field. If you recall, they demolished a completely healthy Charger team at home earlier in the year. The Patriot team at the end of the season was clearly not as good as the team was earlier in the season, and that game proves it. How do you demolish a team earlier in the year and then get into a dogfight with them with their three best players at less than 50%, one completely sat out the game. Man are you dense.

"Now, you feel free to let fewer than 3 minutes of the Super Bowl taint your outlook on last season and the team. I refuse to do so."

Great, you'll be the guy walking the streets of Boston wearing the "2007 New England Patriots; 18-1, but I refuse to let the last three minutes of the Super Bowl taint my outlook on the season and the team."

I'm proud of you for keeping a stiff upper lip.

Re: leave it to Lynch to make a derogatory comment about the Patriots

It's a 100% valid observation, they clearly were not the same team in December and January that they were earlier in the year.

You may not like to hear it; the truth hurts, they were on fumes by the time they got to the Super Bowl.

Is it a valid point?
week 17
week off
first playoff game
second playoff game
week off
superbowl

4 games, 6 weeks.

Compared to giants:
week 17
first playoff game
second playoff game
third playoff game
week off
superbowl

If the patriots lost cuz they weren't rested, what happenned to the giants? Giants beat the Pats on the fatigue factor. The Pats lost (and didn't dominate in the end) cuz of other reasons (which I won't claim to know)

Lack of rest has nothing to do with them being on fumes; they were on fumes mentally, not physically. The pressure of going undefeated wore them down; the Giants got on a roll at just the right time, they were peaking coming into the game, the Patriots peaked about ten games into the season.

Re: leave it to Lynch to make a derogatory comment about the Patriots

Earlier today I ran into an acquaintance of mine who I had not seen in a week or so. We talked about sports, the Celts, their incredible championship and the parade. Then he said to me, "Did you hear Lynch..not sure what he was thinking with what he said." And that prompted an interesting conversation about that.
This is assinine. Now sports anchors who work with Bill are not allowed to make mention of the team possibly peaking early in contrast to another team who appeared to peak entering their final 6 games unless they have first confronted Bill with that scenario.
Who said that?? NOT ALLOWED? Where did I say "NOT ALLOWED"... or are you just taking your own prejudices and applying them to what u WANT me to say..but what was not??? OR are you making things up...maybe taking a cue from the Herald.
In one of the two 2 minute interview segments they've had since February...And I'm not sure why unless you think it's somehow insulting to consider that as a possible explanation for what happened in February. As opposed to they were out executed or outcoached, which if he did ask him, and he may have, would likely be Bill's spin in any event because he tends to perceive any other attempts (like citing injuries we're overcome in past championships sporting nohwere near the offensive fire power) to fathom what happened as looking for an excuse.
No you are correct..I really would NOT expect Lynch to bring it up with the Coach...He has not and I would really not expect him to.
And furthermore anchors who climb on the bandwaggon of some other team they've been covering for their entire career just because they happened to win it all are apparently no longer qualified to cover the Patriots because they have failed some insane exclusive loyalty litmus test.
Who said that?? Again..you are inventing words...very good at creating straw men that never existed..Who said "they are no longer qualified"??
There's a lot wrong with the attitude of the sports media in this town, and that makes it a shame when someone here smears one of the good guys who has never taken the cheap shot approach to furthering his career at any teams expense by insinuating he should have been expected to and did. He did nothing of the sort.
In your opinion he did nothing of the sort..I disagree!! You seem to connote "smearing" with any criticism of one of your heroes...That is blantantly is misuse of the word. Oh..and by teh way I didn't get the memo on who is a good guy and not. I think he is quite good at times, but I think overrated
There is also something disturbingly wrong headed going on with a segment of this fan base who suddenly look for insult or inuendo or potential enemys behind every comment made about this team.
That is HARDLY what is happening here..if you understood the context of what was being said..who said what, when..etc..you might get it.
I guess it's rooted in defensive hypersensitivity born of the whole spygate period.
No not at all the case...good speculation BUT
not true...
And as I said before in this case, discomfort rooted in dire predictions about this Celtics management that were obviously in hindsight totally off the mark.
Of course, the obligatory personal attack has to follow..which is of course expected.
This is all about one sports anchor and what he said, when he said it..the context of it all.
It is NOT at all about the content of what he said. His comment were interesting and really food for thought, BUT it was troubling with the timing of them.
If this was burning inside of him and his theory as to why the Pats did not win the Super Bowl, I really have to ask why did he wait till a Celtics championship parade to bring it up??
I have never heard him say those same things before, for if I had, it would make sense; he was reitterating his past theory as to what happened in the playoffs. But as far as I know, he has not said that on any of his broadcasts..on ALL Access..in a MORE appropriate Patriot forum. I would have enjoyed it if he had a segment on that..had a few guests and discussed this and other ideas about what happened, but THAT was not the case at all.
I asked my friend if he had heard that theory from Lynch before and he shook his head. I do watch WCVB sports, see him on that and in the four and a half months since the Super Bowl have NOT heard him say anything similar about the Pats in the playoffs. Certainly he and all sportscasters can have their own opinions that is NOT the issue here..it's why now and not before?? Why not express those opinions as part of his scores of broadcasts OR on a part of a program ABOUT the Patriots?? I would have thought THAT would have been quite appropriate and an interesting segment..but that never happened. If they were burning in his soul, why wait so long??? And why wait until ANOTHER Boston team won a championship to come out with them?
That was what wa sso surprising to me. IF I had heard him say that before, it would have been more of the same..nothing new...but I hadn't. And it wasn't like he didn't have a platform for making a point like that...many broadcasts..and special Patriot shows and...NOTHING like that...Why then?? Was this all of a sudden a new theory that just appeared? I doubted that...and if it was a burning issue..why hadn't he talked about it before?? Had the Patriots muzzled him so he could not say that?? That is possible..but stiffling the sports anchor voted one of the best in the area is a LARGER story and one I would think would have come before out if true. So...why then at the parade that was celebrating a Green championship?? It was a gratuitous cheap shot at the Patriots. Downing the Pats at the time of a Celts championship makes it all that better...yes?? That is petty and uncalled for and that is what many saw in that.
Another time, another forum and it would have been great. If he had made his theory more known to the general public, all the better..hardly anything to complain about. But that was NOT the case. From someone who has been voted the best, I thought it was far from even good...a low point. As to why he hadn't talked about his theory before, I really do not know.
If he had talked about it before in a Patriots forum or part of his many nightly broadcasts, I would have not been surprised and would not have added a post about it.
