Before he got hurt, I really liked Decker's game. He was especially good at fighting for the ball. I would not mind seeing BB bring him into TC.

6th Round or later


NATE BYNHAM, TE PITTSBURGH, 6-3, 255

An all-out blocking machine. This is a replacement for Baker, do not expect him to be anything but a blocking TE, but he has the size and the grittiness that will make him a great situational and special teams player. Bynham got pushed out by a Freshman phenonm ****erson, so his stock has dropped. But I think he could be a very good steal in the later rounds.

Byham was a 3 year full time starter than Pitt went to more 2 TE looks as Doren ****erson (also a draft prospect as a Senior) converted successfully into a TE after playing RB and LB as a frosh, & soph. ****erson is someone I would like the Pats to take a look at; he is raw (recruited to Pitt as Athlete), but has Watson-like measurables, so a 4th or 5th round flier on him is justifiable.

Great list - quite a few guys with upside out there... draft enough of them and you'll find some keepers. I can see Belichick drafting back and picking up a large number of draftees this year. Yes, he'll have to cut many eventually anyways but he'll be able to get an idea as to who the keepers are.

Some coaches can't stand to admit a mistake and are prone not to keep guys they draft. Belichick doesn't care about perceptions. The best stay. Others are cut regardless of where they were drafted.

I'd take a flyer on a cold weather punter too - keep Hanson and let them compete.

Just about EVERY position can welcome some competition.

What do you think of Quarless? After his frosh. year I thought he'd be a 1st rounder after 3 years. After his jr. season, I wasn't sure I even wanted him back for his senior season. I get to most PSU home games. The light seemed to go on this year. He blocked well, covered punts and made some big plays in the passing game. I thought he was under-utilized in the passing game. OL struggled against OSU/Iowa and D.Clark didn't have great pocket presence. Wasn't good at picking up his secondary receivers where Quarless should have been used more.

I visit with another PSU observer on another forum, he felt Quarless had crossed a maturity hurdle and that allowed him to refocus on his game and start to meet early expectations. I've only seen him checking out the bowl game against LSU, I'd take a late round flyer on him, but Dray of Stanford is actually my priority target after Moeaki of Iowa a couple rounds earlier - if Watson goes elsewhere, I'd be after both.
