Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

Brady ultimately "lost" in the second circuit, but for everyone paying attention to what the ruling actually was (that the arbitrator has essentially absolute power), he won the public opinion case, as well as with virtually every reporter who was there. The NFL was humiliated and forced to acknowledge they didn't have any direct evidence that he did anything wrong. Initially Judge Berman ripped the NFL a new one. Brady took the case all the way to requesting an en banc trial and finally bowed out just short of appealing to the SCOTUS. There was virtually zero chance that SCOTUS would review the case, and at that point, they may have stayed the suspension and then it could have been enacted during the postseason.

Kraft couldn't even appeal. Such a disappointment.

Brady stopped fighting to focus on his mother who was, as you know, battling cancer.

The beauty of Brady's court appeal was that Judge Berman ordered the release of the NFL'S appeal transcripts. That's where the Goodell's lies were exposed.

So Brady did hand over all of his phone records and transcripts.

So Brady did say he talked to JJ about deflategate.

So Well's did say they weren't aware of the ideal gas law.

Etc....etc....etc..

Brady's actions, not Kraft's, exposed the NFL.

Because he’s a coward. Because an innocent person was framed, evidence fabricated, millions spent on propaganda, the legacy of a great man (and the face of his entire business) tarnished, and out of principle he should have stood up to Goodell. He did less than the bare minimum. He didn’t even appeal, which should be a given that every owner would appeal any penalty to try to get it reduced. With the massive media coverage, he could have used the platform, and the appeal process, to take apart this ridiculous “conviction,” and even if he didn’t win, he could have done a lot for public opinion. He won’t be forgiven, ever, by many. That WAS his moment to reveal who he was, and he very much showed us.
Kraft revealed who he was when he bought the team.

I guess, you have to take the good with the bad.

Lots of out of towners saying Kraft's legacy is "forever tarnished" by this, which of course is nonsense.

But, the issue is what's true: All along, for Robert Kraft, it's always been about himself.

How? you say, with all the philanthropy and unnecessary nice treatment of most connected with the franchise?

"Since 1994..." begins every other sentence from this guy. "Patriots fans want a winner". Yeah, every sports fan in every town does. "Our first Super Bowl", yes referring to the Superdome, but referring to 1997.

For any real Patriots fan, "Our first Super Bowl" is SBXX. Nine years after what should have been our first appearance, and victory, in 1977.

People do not like being treated like they don't exist.

Kraft wishes this was an expansion team. Instead of, "In the tradition of Steve Grogan, Drew Bledsoe is taking over leadership of the Patriots after some losing seasons" or "Like Jim Plunkett, Drew Bledsoe was drafted #1 overall and came here with prospects of a new stadium and hopes to win" or even "Tony Eason quarterbacked the Patriots to the Super Bowl in his third season, while fellow first rounder Drew Bledsoe [one inch taller, and 26 pounds heavier] likewise did in his fourth year"...it was "Drew Bledsoe came to the worst franchise in sports, a laughingstock, an embarrassment, a national humiliation, a perennial loser, and pioneered for the first time in team history a winning, successful blah blah blah." I'm throwing up.

It was "Drew Bledsoe, like Ted Williams, Bill Russell and Bobby Orr..." while making him the highest paid player in the NFL. Kraft is not a Patriots fan, and does not care about Patriots fans. He cares about Kraft fans. Flying elvis fans. Drew Bledsoe fans.

I never heard Henry, Grousbeck or Jacobs say "Boy, we really sucked before I bought the team."

Kraft indicates it with every move of his body. Awkward? Congratulating Raymond Claryborn for his belated induction into the team's Hall. But of course, later he gives Ray what he gives everybody else: a blue jersey.

How about, "Like his predecessor Steve Grogan, Tom Brady in his second year led an 11-loss team the previous season to 11 wins, and supremacy in football. Fortunately, Tom did not have historically biased incompetent officiating steal his first Super Bowl ring..."

Ironically, Kraft could in fact cement his legacy by seeing this ignorance and fixing it, by acknowledging the Pats' history [they've never had anywhere near a 25-year stretch of futility, unlike the Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, Raiders, and Packers-though you'd never know it from the media], but he'll never do it.

Oh, the irony. The McNally and Jastremski texts, coupled with the fact Tom destroyed his phone make TB12 look every bit as guilty as the videotape from the spa does Kraft.

Where the hell were you when the rest of the football following world saw the league get de-panted in both Berman's courtroom and decision as well as in the substance of their own appeal of that decision?

Kraft hired two of the best lawyers in the country to beat the rap because he fears the NFL penalties if he is found guilty. They are looking to throw out the videotape and questioning the legality of the search warrant also saying without voice recordings how Does anyone know what Kraft asked for. Kraft will "get off" in my opinion.
Way more expensive than the 4 hand 'get off'.

You can do all the "what ifs" you want, but Kraft was not going to retain those picks, nor get Brady's suspension reduced. When the league spends $2.5 million to nail you to the wall and you have two Federal Appellate Court judges saying it's unfathomable that Brady would destroy his phone, you're not going to win that. This isn't an argument about whether Brady is/was innocent. It's an argument of losing the battle to win the war. That's the point.

Wrong again. The courts argued whether or not Goodell had the authority granted to be judge, jury and executioner according to article 46 of the CBA and that's it.

And they spent 22 million.

Are you one of those bots that just says dumb, random things? Because there’s no way you could repeat the same tripe again after reading direct rebuttals to this from roughly 12 forum members about why you are so far away from the point. You couldn’t even correct your 2.5M figure with the 22M one that @Tony2046 corrected you on.

Question, what's the opposite of an @AtomicDawg ? Haha

Evidence of antdawg’s lack of comprehension is compelling if not overwhelming.

Oh, you mean it was $22 million and not $2.5 million? So the league spent $22 million and you think they would have reduced Brady's suspension if Kraft had gone on national TV and called Goodell a "mother******"? LOL.. come on, man.

And they spent 22 million.

As if this detracts from my point. The NFL doesn't just throw around $22 million and then back down because an owner throws a fit. Real life doesn't work like this.

Well whenever someone goes after your wife and kids and your reaction is to capitulate like possum we'll understand why.

Yes, of course, because the wife and kids are the same exact thing as a spectator sport. Good call.

" sorry honey there's nothing I can do."

So Kraft goes and gets snagged getting a rub n tug and we get to hear a defense about Kraft's deflategate run n shrug?

Thanks Benedict Bob.

You really should stop doubling down on this subject. I don't know why you insist on getting sidetracked into issues where you're talking out of your ass, but there's no need for it. It detracts from your central argument, which has actually raised good points.
