Absolutely amazing what Edelman has done this year. 32 years old coming off the ACL and suspension and is as good as ever averaging nearly 80 yards per game receiving and extremely clutch in the playoffs.

He’s gonna get stiffed by the Hall of Fame because he doesn’t have the regular season numbers unless he plays at an elite level for a few more years.

He's a Patriot's HOF lock though. He's got Troy Brown/Bruschi type fan status. He's got the rings etc.. A HOF jacket would be just a side note on his resume.

I thought it was interesting that the post-show guys on TV brought up Jules as a potential HOF candidate.

Just two thousand yard seasons probably won't cut it.

Maybe it could've been interesting if he got the Pats another 6 points in XLVI. And then was not injured and made the difference in LII. And then makes the difference in LIII.

Its great to see him still as effective as ever, had lots of concerns coming off that injury. ill gladly take it for another 1-2 years. Wr is still a need for next year but he is extremely vital to our success.

He's not a Hall of Famer, won't even get a sniff like Welker will, and that's legitimate. Tremendous player but not an all-time great. Two thousand yard seasons and a career high of 7 TDs. The likes of Stevie Johnson, Amani Toomer, Joey Galloway, Donald Driver, and Terry Glenn were more prolific in the regular season and none of them are Hall of Famers. Compares to a Keenan McCardell with a shorter career or Pierre Garcon or someone like that.

Patriots HOF for sure though. His stats belie how much he's meant to this team.

He strung together 4-5 solid seasons and bailed us out on a couple occasions. Now thinking about career, I can't pinpoint one "peak" season; he's been pretty even since 2013, barring injuries. Hopefully he catches 10+ passes without a drop/INT in LIII.

I think of him as one but I'd say the only way he has a chance is if he breaks a few Jerry Rice playoff records. He'd need another 2-3 playoffs to get the Receptions most other stats would take even longer.

The Squirrel is only WR we Developed since Branch/Givens that's saying something.:D

Once he scores three touchdowns in the super bowl. Might be a chance he goes to the hall. His situation is crazy

Regular season numbers hurt him but postseason numbers are hard to dismiss. Sort of like a Curt Shilling HOF argument, and Curt belongs. NFL's HOF is a tougher bar, though.

Yeah

We'll know there hasn't been a fall off if he is extended.

He has played great, as has Gronk. It does NOT follow that there has been no fall off.

It's OK that a veteran isn't at his best ever; it really is.

Big change from all the “he’s fallen off” noise from earlier this year. Thank God :)

His contributions in the playoffs will garner votes. He's the 2nd most productive WR all-time in the playoffs with a number of super clutch moments. Those moments will sway some voters.

In his five years as a consistent starter he's averaged approximately 1000 yards a season. If he has a couple more seasons left at that production, his regular season numbers won't drag him down enough to offset his playoff excellence. Voters will remember him as a major reason for Patriots titles.

I second all the positive things said, but am still wondering what he was thinking on that punt in that championship game against the Chiefs. I suspect the answer is that he wasn't.

If Jules evens sniffs Rice’s playoff reception record (comes within 20 or so), I think he would have a real shot. It is not like these Pats teams are oozing with HOF contenders - some need to get in besides Brady and Gronk to document their excellence to future generations.

He'll never even sniff being a finalist. There are a lot of wide receivers over him. Isaac Bruce is a finalist and should make it eventually, but he could be waiting. Hines Ward and Torry Holt were semifinalists and didn't make the top-10. Reggie Wayne is up in 2020 and will wait a few years. Megatron will be a first ballot in 2021 I assume. Welker becomes eligible in 2021, Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, and Anquan Boldin become eligible in 2022. Then figure if Edelman's got a couple years left, he's competing against Larry Fitzgerald, Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas, Jordy Nelson, even Doug Baldwin and AJ Green. All of those guys have had better careers than Edelman. He's very unlikely to catch Rice's playoff records, and even then he lacks the regular season excellence. He's never been a top-5 receiver in the NFL.
