Why would the Patriots trade Harmon or Chung? It doesn't free up cap space.

Trading Harmon would free up $2.6 million. A trade or release of Elandon Roberts would free up another $1.5 million. Trading D. McCourty would free up $7.1 million.

I say we install J. Richards at Safety and trade all 3 for either Manny Sanders or Stefon Diggs, so the WR obsessed among us will be quiet for a couple of hours.

So why is he here? Specifically how will he make a difference in special teams? And why did no other team sign him? If he was that great on special teams, surely he wouldn't be available for the Pats to get him.

Jesus no lol. Putting Richards as the starting safety outweighs any positives that Sanders or Diggs bring. I'd rather have an elite defense vs having a very good (not great) receiving core, but a huge question mark on defense.

Richards was a mainstay on ST for multiple years before we cut him. If some other ST guys are dinged up, there's plenty for him to do without him playing defensive snaps. It's not nearly the mystery you're making it out to be.
