Joe Milton is a "better option" than any QB available in this year's NFL Draft.

The only valid reason IMO to turn down a 3rd or better is if the team believes strongly that Milton is better than Maye and will beat him for the starters role. I don't think they do...

Or, the other valid reason is that they believe that with still having him for 3 more seasons on a cheap contract, combined with his taking to the new staff's coaching and his possible improvement as a QB that can give them a decent security blanket behind Maye is more valuable at least this season than a possible 2nd through 5th Round Pick.

I don’t think Milton will ever amount to much and that might’ve been the greatest game of his life. GMs won’t line up (though there are some doozy GMs out there)…

If he gives us another 3 years of brisset equivalent years as backup that's worth its weight in gold over a 4 year period for a sixth rounder. Average backup QB is 8 million a year , so over 3 years you save close to 20 million. 20 million savings for a 2nd or 3rd rounder who might amount to nothing as draft beyond pick 10 is a crapshoot .. no thanks ..

Hold him until a team is willing to give up a ransom. Let the mystery build and fester... QB desperate teams do desperate things.

We also better make sure Drake Maye is not fool's gold. He needs to prove he can stop throwing silly interceptions.

And learn to slide so he avoids any more concussions.

For the moment I think we need Milton as Maye’s backup and possible successor more that we need another third or fourth round pick.

That's fair. Although in reality, we'd probably have Wolf to thank. I don't know which is the lesser of two evils.

He was clearly under-drafted in r6, should have been r3 in hindsight. People had all kinds of rationalizations, that he couldn't process, that he couldn't throw short, yada yada - instead of seeing his obvious skills and size. He put those concerns to rest as much as you can in 1 game, and that 1 NFL game is worth more than a year of college tape. That day he leapfrogged every QB in this upcoming draft. Plus he's on a r6 contract for 3 years (salary of $1m/yr), not an expensive r1 contract or a $40m FA contract. It's an incredible value and opportunity to any QB-needy team, and worth either a 2025 or 2026 1st. The longer he stays a Patriot the less valuable he could become, as his 3 more years @ $1m is half the appeal.

Milton has all of the physical tools and then some, and he seems to be high character.

And yet he fell to the 6th round when every single team in the NFL had several attempts to select him.

I said it first!!!! ) I felt after last game of season and still feel today that some team is going to give up a 2 or 3rd and another pick from 2026 to get Milton before or during the draft! Milton is an exciting dual threat player that is getting better …..selfishly I hope he stays here but I just can’t see it…..either way I like Joe and hope whatever is best for him he gets!!!!
