If Brady had the same kind of athleticism as a guy like Milton. I have a feeling he would have been willing to roleplay to get on the field.
If Milton is content to hold a clipboard as a 3rd string quarterback when he clearly has the build and athleticism to do more should he choose to put in the work, then he's fated to hit a dead end to his NFL career pretty quickly and I won't be that sorry.
Joe Milton III is not a lock for an NFL roster spot. He's a 6th round pick and he's gonna be in a roster battle with O'Rourke and Zappe, both of which can hold a clipboard exactly as well as he can. And I wouldn't be surprised if we kick the tires on a couple of camp bodies at the QB position and you never know what can happen with that. Bottom line, there's no guarantee that Milton breaks camp with an actual NFL job. 6th rounders are cut in camp all the time. Hell it nearly happened to Brock Purdy if reports are to be believed.
In his position you do EVERYTHING YOU CAN to make yourself useful to the team because there's literally dozens of guys out there hungry for the job you have right now and nothing is guaranteed to you.
I get he doesn't want to be a TE because he's not that physical, it's cool, not all big guys are all about the aggression, but WR should be a thing he can do, and it will get him both more field time, AND a more secure roster spot, then holding out for the improbable.
For a guy like him who's gonna have to fight to even stay on a roster, he's gonna have to make a decision very quickly, do I want to be a quarterback, or an NFL player, in the very likely possibility that I can't be both?
