Joe Milton at WR?

Right now, Jacoby Brissett is the best QB on this roster. Maye is an exciting prospect but he was literally just drafted. This is even more true for Milton.
If Drake shows in camp he's ready to start by all means let him play.. can't be any worse than 4-13.. we drafted him to play so I'd sat if he's ready let Drake play week 1.

I'd agree if we weren't also rebuilding the offensive line. Let Brissett get dinged around by a bad line. We've seen what doing it the other way have cost other cant miss prospects like Herbert and Burrow who missied significant time because of terrible roster support. Rather not let that happen to Maye.

That's true. The line has some support we do know is Andrews ,strange, Onwenu are the starters. LT ,RG are the spots unsettled. I'm just speaking of if he's played well all camp ,pre season.. that's a tall task against this defense they won't take it easy on Brissett or maye in camp.

I hope he gets a fair shot in camp. It seems to me that at the very least we can use him for hail mary's.... most teams start thinking about a hail mary around midfield.... we can throw one the next play after a touchback.
OUr QB opening is NOT for a Hail Mary QB.

If Brissette is injured in Game 1, we need a QB to step in then and perhaps for Game 1. If Milton beats out Rourke, then he is that man.

Otherwise, he is trying to make the team as the #4 QB. He still wouldn't be throwing the Hail Mary passes since he wouldn't be active.

Looking forward to preseaon games for the first time in a while, when we had Tom preseason didn't mean much except to check out a couple of the guys drafted, this year I'm looking forward to seeing the Drake.

I agree. We knew what we were getting in TB12.. and how he would sync up with the new guys drafted. I'm looking forward too. I really like maye, I believe this kids going to be a player.

If Milton has enough grasp of the offense to call the play and get the ball snapped without a penalty, he’ll be a better and more useful QB than either Zappe or Rourke just based on his athleticism and arm.

Alex Van Pelt won games as OC of the Browns last season with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson as his starting QB because Watson was injured. DTR is a destitute man’s Joe Milton when it comes to throwing a football or tucking it and running. You just simplify the offense with easy reads and pound the rock.

Also Jacoby Brissett is a tough dude. Personally watched him finish a game with torn thumb ligaments in his right hand. He started and finished the next game 10 days later as well.

It makes no sense to risk losing what could develop into a valuable asset to keep or trade for some misguided belief Nathan Rourke or Bailey Zappe give you a betterchance to win a game than Milton or that Drake Maye needs to stay packed in bubble wrap until he’s “ready” to play.

Yes, I know he has to make the damn team - and be active - before he can throw a Hail Mary. It's April. I can fantasize about how the new guys are going to be used. Me suggesting he throw a Hail Mary or two is a helluva lot more probable than people talking about moving him to WR.

I think they will use him in trick plays

He had better stats than Maye last year, playing against far tougher competition. Let's see how he shows up.

I'm not disagreeing with you, however, if we're all being honest, Brissett was brought in as a QB Mentor and as the QB to take a pounding until we get a solid OL, so we don't get our hopefully Franchise QB killed as a rookie.

Milton said the Pats told him they drafted him as a QB. He said he won’t play TE. So let’s forget WR. Let’s drop this silly subject when there’s no indication that this is a thing.

Rourke last week working with his throwing coach behind Gillette Stadium:

And before that throwing with T.J. Luther

May explain why Zappe’s name is the one being mentioned as the one on the training block. Albeit, what Rourke’s future holds is now a big question mark.

I don’t think he’d Volunteer the move to wr

Taysom Hill is still listed as a QB and started quite a few games. He settled into his role as QB/wildcat/RPO/extra blocker/receiver etc... He is also a crowd favorite in New Orleans. Hill is the first person I thought of when I heard this pick. I just don't know if Milton can catch.

With 10 1/2 mitts, Milton must be able to catch.

I’m expecting Brissett to be playing with crutches by mid season.

**** that, just play him instead of Maye and trade Maye for 3 Firsts. Problems solved.

I agree with you my friend. However I think the O line will be ok.. we still traumatized as fans by what we had to watch last 2 seasons with the entire offense. Strange, Andrews and ownenu are the starting players we just have to solidify 2 spots really LT and RG. The downside to Brissett being the punching bag is of Zapp has to play beucase he will be on the practice squad.

Feel bad for Rourke.

What more does he need to do?

He was a star in Canada and has never been given a shot in the NFL.

He doesn’t have the talent of a Maye or Milton, but he works at developing his craft.

I hope he gets a real shot somewhere.

I was interested in him being in the conversation for starting QB if the Pats had traded down and not drafted Maye.

Oh we'll definitely see about that. Milton's not gonna be happy at all with the playing time he gets as a 4th string QB. if he wants to make an impact on the field, he'll get over himself on that score pretty quickly. QBs selected in the 4th round don't tend to have a lot of agency in where they play, if they want to play at all.

The difference in money is why they make decisions like this.

He said he wasn't playing tight end. Don't know how he feels about WR.
