JJ Watt might be on the block

Tampa could easily get watt, james white, david andrews. Hard to see them losing with that even if godwin and pierre paul walk (thinking they can afford to keep barrett )

David and Godwin will be their two first priority. They will let Barrett go most likely. Guy’s looking to cash in.

Why would Paul walk?

I don't know if they can do it "easily"...they have about $17-27 million in cap space

Pitt to play with his brother would make sense. Kind of a McCourty situation.
That Pitt D will be pretty sick. They have some players coming back from injury as well. The only thing is Watt may not get as much playing time with Heyward, Tuitt & Alualu. Also, Roethlisberger is about as done as Brees. They both looked toast in the playoffs. Pitt will need a QB. They have everything else, except cap space.

Ive never been a fan, but Watt would be a great situational player.

If he wants to get paid (which is likely) then forget it.
Why else would he come here? It won’t be to chase rings.

I dunno what the vets are looking for (paul, fournette, gronk). If they still wanna stay and for a hometown discount even better for them

My guess is with his age and injury history he’s looking for a cheap deal with a team ready to win a ring. If Tampa loses a piece or two on their edge that would be a perfect spot to ring chase. Green Bay could be a destination as well.

Yeah I saw an interview with Barrett saying he wants to make bank. He’s 28 with two rings, time to hold up the Brinks’ truck.

If teams did their homework they would know he’s a product of that line. Before he came to Tampa he wasn’t much of a pass rusher.

Trying to connect some dots here.

Belichick refuses to pay premium prices for sack specialists in their prime let alone a injury plagued DE on the back end of his career.
Nick Casario is a Belichick disciple
Watt is entering the final year of his current contract with a $17.5 mill salary and 0 guaranteed money
Texans over the cap in a reduced cap season

Hmmmmm....

Does Casario go the Arizona Cardinal route and continue to wildly overpay a sentimental fan favorite for PR/ticket sales purposes, especially in a year when the team is getting eviscerated by media and fans?
Or
Does Nick adhere to proven team building principles instilled in him by his cold blooded assassin mentor?

I don't buy Watt's "It's all about winning now" narrative.
It's February 12 ....meaning plenty of time to be a player on Day 1 of free agency now vs waiting for the Casario hammer to be dropped in late spring/summer.
It's almost always about the money regardless of the narrative being portrayed on MyFace

Paul is still under contract

He could turn out to be like Larry Fitzgerald. Larry could have gone to a contender but instead remained with the cardinals at 12 to 11 million dollars. Don’t know the deal with that.

Watt will climb back down from the $17.5M, but he is not going to accept $5M. TB can not afford Watt at $10M with their cap situation - remember TB has to hold back $5M to $10M for rookies and in-season payments - and they will put a priority on keeping as many of their own FAs as they can. Watt will still want decent money. BB might sign him as he would be a good fit, but he is older with a lot of injuries, so it is a gamble, so we will see.

Tampa is likely to bring back Suh on the cheap if that’s the case. Everything depends on watt if he chooses money over a championship. He’s good but not the great player he once was.

What does "chooses money over a championship" mean? $5M, $10M, $15M? It is important to quantify the projection because then everything changes. When you do the math and look at the salary caps, Tampa, Green Bay and Pittsburgh do not work. He is not going to play for $5M or $6M when other guys on the same DLine are at $10M+. He knows he is older, but does not think he is a part-time player. He is not going to play for $5M to be with his brother. Jason McCourty came here to play with Devin, AND because no other team was really interested. JJ will get interest and a $10Mish contract, but not from Tampa, Pitt or GB.

10 million. I would bring suh back much cheaper and he still looks decent.
