Very good player for a long time, and one of the best pure pass blockers in the league (though his run blocking was only average) It won't be easy for the Jets to find a suitable replacement and now becomes a HUGE question mark for the team.If true, I'm glad. I'm not a huge Fitz fan. At least not at anything above 5mil.
Though supposedly Brick has been mulling retirement all offseason and keeping the Jets in the loop. Word is he wants to get into politics. Met him a couple times. Seemed to have a good head on his shoulders (so he may be over-qualified).
Time came to decide. He was gonna be asked to take a pay cut regardless of Fitz. Guess he made the smart choice for himself and his family. Can't be mad at that. Sucks. But what are ya gonna do?
On the positive side, it "should" make it possible for the Jets to now sign Fitzpatrick, who had a career year last season. I will find it interesting to see how the rank and file Jet fans are going to view this
