Jets have finally made the transition to Favre

Wow. I didn't know most Pats fans are idiots. I think your (sic) wrong - and they are not. Favre would throw more touchdowns to Moss alone then Cassell will rack up all season.

PWP: Ah. Self-satire, always wicked pissah

That pats can adapt their 'system' to an all world QB...come on now. Favre been playing this game for a ton of years. You don't think he could pick up our system? <g>

If you're going to be a Pats fan you might just think about reading what the HC has to say about the system and QB styles. Had you any familiarity whatsoever with BB's approach you would not post your 2nd paragraph. It contradicts BB's approach.

The offense hasn't changed at all. It is the same exact playbook as it was under Brady. The play selection has changed, but that is it.

The loss of plays is a change and it makes them easier to prepare for. I expect to see something new, even a few plays, next week. Expecting Cassel to become Brady is wrong. Expecting the team to adjust to what is now missing from the QB position is what's needed.

So you would rather have a QB who can lead you to no more then 17 points a game then Favre? The pats are a win now team, Favre gives them the best option to win. Maybe im just over simplifying everything but I dont understand how you say back up caliber QB in Cassel > Favre fpr the Pats b/c of the system. Why couldnt you just change the system for one year then when Brady comes back just reimplement the previous system.

Because after a year of learning how to do things Brett's way it would take BB and Brady another year or more to beat that lack of discipline and reliance on improvisational instinct (freelancing) out of them. You didn't have a successful offensive system to lean on or defend from gunslinger assault. Though Eric apparently hoped to. You're the team playing to win now. You don't have a HOF QB in his prime coming back for another 5-6 seasons. We're playing to keep winning consistently. Because we do.

If Favre retires after this season, who the hell is gonna replace him doing what he did this week? Clemens? Is Shottsy Jr. gonna tell the other 10 to STFU and go back to doing what they're coached or told to do? Good luck with that...

not being sarcastic but my simple mind sees one year essentially go to waste b/c of Cassel. The Pats could still make the playoffs and compete especially in a weak AFC this year but this Pats team is a super bowl team. Thats just something thats hard to sacrifice in my mind.

Bill would rather risk sacrificing one season than abandon the system. And he has 3 rings and 4 Conference Championships and 6 seasons worth of Division titles on which to base that decision. Sucks for the frontrunner fans here, but Bill isn't a frontrunner. He's been here since 2000 and he's signed for another 5 years beyond 2008.

His system didnt win him the games, Tom Brady and a great D did. Belichick is a great coach, phenomenal game planner but players win championships not coaches. Coaches play a huge role in winning but great coaches are also reliant on having great players

I honestly believe Brett Ratliff could be a solid QB. Im not willing to bet a season on him being good but the kid showed some upside in camp and preseason.

I hate this notion that Favre has discipline what so ever and runs school yard offenses. You dont throw for 70 pecent completion percentage by creating on the fly all the time.

That must be why Marino, Fouts and the Mannings have combined for 15 Super Bowl victories.

Its not all players and its not all coaches, its a fine balance which leans towards talent more then coaching IMO. That is the general consensus of past champs. Occasionally you have teams with such phenomenal coaching that they break the trend.

Lots of team have elite talent and win squat. While it takes a certain modicam of talent to have optimum success, this system puts football players in a position to win. The NFL is a coaches league. That's why Woody went and hired one he thought was a mangenius... Talent only wins the superbowls in the pre season balloting or teams like Washington and Arizona and Detroit and the JETS and even Indy and Baltimore and the Rams would be swimming in rings.

I understand this and thats why I put BB as an all time great b/c even when his teams blatantly had less talent he mastered gameplans which accentuated the strengths of his team and masked flaws on route to victory. Coaching is very important in the NFL dont get me wrong I agree with how you feel. I just do not agree the sentiment that the system win games. Im not saying you said that but I have heard some people say that.

BB is responsible for bringing great players here they dont just fall into our lap. If BB was your coach he wouldnt be drafting scrubs like Ghooolston, trading for Farve who will lead you nowhere this year, spend 120 million dollars of cap space on guys who are not even close to being worth it. BB gets good players for his system, and he knows how to win, keeps the guys motivated and focused, we would be nowhere without him and just Tom Brady.

Kris Jenkins and Calvin Pace are playing pro bowl caliber right now. Woody has been meh and Faneca has been good but not as good as advertised thus far.

lool Pace playing at pro bowl level thats funny. Jenkins is your only good pickup and is only good because hes a fat lard who cant play in a 4-3 defense and is a good fit for a nose in a 3-4. Wait till he starts getting double teamed every play like Wilfork before you go throwing out the word probowl.

ignorance. Jenkins is only good b/c he is fat Thats why he steamrolled through three people to block a FG, thats why 2 men can not contain him and when he is on the field no one can run the ball. Pace has been a stud as well. All around the field, harrasing the QB. I know you are maybe the biggest pats homer here. You did say Rodney Harrison > Kerry Rhodes

loool

Streamrolled through 3 people to block a FG? Hilarious, he hopped through the gap between the center and guard dude, nobody even blocked him. Jenkins doesnt get double teamed like Wilfork, not even close, wait till he does before you go bananas.

Oh and Rodney is better than Rhodes.
