Jets have finally made the transition to Favre

How many weeks did it take for Favre to become comfortable with the jets offense and their receivers?

How long have we posted it would take for Cassel to become comfortable? or a veteran we brought in? Why uis our situation so different? Is our offense so much harder to learn? Are our receivers so much weaker? Is Favre so great?

Are you for real? Are you comparing Favre to Cassel - kind of? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah....sometimes the homerism on this board has absolutely no bounds!

At his best, Cassel is not as good as Favre...but at baseline, most Pats fans would take Cassel over Favre.

They will lose 2 out of 3 if Palmer starts for Cincy.
I highly doubt that and that is me being a pessimistic jets fan. Cincy is worse then Arizona.

Who are you?

I'm a new poster, but at the risk of being considered a homer, the Pats will easily win the division. Don't care what Favre does. Doesn't matter.

Cassel is almost as good as Favre NOW, wait til the end of the season, he will be much better for the playoffs.

Ummmm.... I think his/her point that if it took a seasoned veteran like Brett Favre 4 games to get acclimated to the offense, it would take that much time or longer for a guy like Cassel who has no experience. He/she was questioning how can people be trashing Cassel for struggling in his second start when it took a guy like Favre four games to have a break out game. His comparing Favre and Cassel was not as equals, but as Favre as the more talented and experienced player.

I think the point was lost on you. It wasn't being a homer. But your response wasn't being intelligent either.

I have to disagree here, I dont think Cassel is anywhere close to Favre, especially in the long game. Take a look at what Favre did in the Arizona game and tell me Cassel could have come close to that, no way.

Cassel has had 4 years in this system. A young kid learning the ropes getting his first playing time is not the same as a vet learning a new system

as per tom jackson and various other media outlets. i guess he did play well today and throw 6 tds but thats a sample of the weekly jumping the gun conclusions we always have. already more than one show threw out playoffs for the jets although they do have a very favorable schedule after the bye.
this happens either when he has a close personal tragedy happen to him, or when the media rips him a new one, he feels he has to come out and get them off his back for a week

Well only 3+ years, but who's counting

Your post still supports the point being made that people are ridiculous with their expectations for a young QB to come in for an injured HOF'er and be slinging away with great success right off the bat.

I'm sorry, but they both have similiar learning curves but for different reasons. Favre has played for how many years? Cassel made his first start two weeks ago since high school, last decade. Cassel may not have to learn the terminology, but he does need to learn timing with his receivers, the speed of the game at the NFL level, reading defenses, etc. Many of those things Favre knows instictively after over a decade and a half of playing.

I do see them being in very similiar situations for different reasons. In fact, I think Favre may have an easier learning curve since the plays aren't all that different, but the terminology is.

Favre hit wide open receivers against a bad secondary...anyone would have done the same.

Favre 08 is better than Cassel 08.

I'll take Favre over Cassel any given day even though he is the king of INT. Who cares? Do you honestly believe that Favre won't be the kind of INT if he doesn't throw any INT?

You kind of contradicted yourself and agreed to what my point was. Cassel has the steeper learning curve. You can know the system all you want butyou need the game experience to become better and reading and reacting. Favre is Favre, his natural abilities will make up for what he may lack in knowledge of the system.

who knows who will show up. KC was good today and Oakland is competitive.

it could go either way, who knows

I agree. These are all teams with something to prove... Cincy, KC, and Oakland. Should be an interesting few games.

I think one thing that Patriots and Jets fans can agree on is that Buffalo needs to be shut down!!

who wouldn't?

I wouldn't on the Patriots. That would mean the system would have to be changed (after almost a decade of evolution and growth) and/or the playbook cut by 80%. This is not the patriots way, and it would be counter-productive IMO. Especially at the price Favre would command for 1 year.

2008 Jets definitely would prefer Favre 100%, no doubt he makes the Jets a better team in 2008.
