All kidding aside, I do hate this weather after about 5 minutes (it looks glorious when it happens but digging out and then trying to avoid killing yourself on the ice for three months stinks), but for me, when winter changes to spring, it is the most amazing feeling. All of a sudden driving around at the end of April, beginning of May, when everything is bright green and in bloom - wow! Lifts my spirits so much every year! I would miss that if I moved to FL or somewhere else warm all the time. I also absolutely love the ocean, any time, anywhere. So calming (or at these times, so powerful).
Another sight that makes you go, Wow! I guess we've answered our own questions as to why we live here.Winter is the price of admission we pay for:
That’s when I like to come up and visit. This **** that you’re dealing with now is for the birds.Winter is the price of admission we pay for:
The first thing I shovel snow off is the grill on my deck. I usually shovel a path so I can move the grill closer to the door also.
Give me a couple of glasses of a good red wine to go with the perfectly cooked steak off the grill and I'm good.
Do you use a propane burning grill during the winter? I gave it a shot a few weeks ago and it seemed like the grill didn't get up to temp properly.
I use my grill in the winter. If you are doing some fancy cooking, propane grilling when its -2 below outside and windy does mess up the heat.
Sometimes I'll sear meat first then cook on the grill with a low heat but it takes longer but it'll cook a little more evenly..
Lately I just sous vide everything and have experimented with a grill for finishing. Trying to get a good sear on nicely cooked meat with my propane grill when it was ~20's was a big fail.
I just got in from a brisk (to put it mildly) walk ... Will have a fire going full bore in the fireplace a bit later and have some left-over eggnog from the holidays. The snow is piling up outside and it's cozy in here. I think that's a bit more special than whatever today is like in over-paved ersatz Florida. It is insane for anyone to argue that it's better to live in New England that FL on a day like this.
To be fair it's pretty unlikely a hurricane would hit Florida on a day when we're getting a decent snowstorm.I am going to bump this thread when the next hurricane hits Florida.
Yea searing on the grill is no-go in this ice age crap
The grilled scallops looked deliciousI've been wanting to get a set up with a chimney starter + grate on top - like this: https://www.chefsteps.com/activities/tips-tricks-tiny-mighty-this-grill-is-hot
