Of the 50, how much is that the Browns paying the loser tax? 15,20mil?

Well Hightower is going to be expensive to keep, wish we'd got this deal done at the start of the season.

Does Hightowers agent now ask for at least $12.5m per?

Cool. He should buy a big screen tv so he can watch his old team in the Superbowl.

Shaun Alexander all over again..especially being stuck in Cleveland.

So we know what Hightower will be getting

Ya think? They dumped Collins. He obviously isn't going to take less.

Awesome for him and his family. Now back to reveling in the fact the Pats are going to the SB for the 9th time.

As awesome as this team is, it's a good reminder of how special Troy Brown and Bruschi were, as they worked hard to ensure they never played for another team.

I believe BB is a happy man .. again.
Collins is kept away from AFC contenders or AFCE .. and this contract will not disturb negotiations with Hightower.

Very strange. He isnt worth half that.

When you're the Cleveland Browns, you don't have the luxury of quality FAs knocking down your door. They did what they had to do.

As for Collins, he's a super-quiet, super-private small-town guy who avoids the limelight. It may well be that he'll be happier with a team like Cleveland even if it does mean giving up the chance at more rings. Meanwhile the guys who are with the Patriots now clearly belong here. It's all good.

There's also the optics of it. Cleveland has been struggling for some time, they've traded for and retained an A-grade talent, and the new admin is arm with draft capital. If only for positive momentum, despite my belief they're overpaying, it's good for the Browns fellowship.

Hightower will simply need to make a decision: Does he want to make a little more money playing for a joke of an organization, or stay with the class of the league for a little less....

Paid as an ILB and not an edge rusher. Bodes well for HT re-signing hopes.

This all speculation, but man it seems like getting rid of this guy has such a POSITIVE impact on the defense.

When it first happened it just seemed like simply getting rid of a guy with no return, but the message/tone it sent to the locker-room is something money can't buy.

The defense is a bunch of hard-working guys who "do their job" and Belichick seems to have a special place in his heart for this unit.

He doesn't need to make a decision like that, he could end up with another contender being paid Collins money.

Plenty of teams would want a very good LB and pay him, doesn't have to be a Cleveland or Jacksonville.

Good point, you're right.

Man, further proof that the browns are dopes.

Maybe more guarantee money will keep him here. Who are the other free agent LBs?
