James Harrison officially signs with Pats

Also I take Edelman in the postseason over Welker everytime

Are there people who wouldn't? Welker was one of the least clutch players ever. Not only did he lead the league several times in drops, he was one of the most prolific third down pass droppers in the league. I will never forgive him for that SuperBowl. Gagging to that joke of a team a second time might have been even more frustrating than the first time.

You say attributed like it's a matter of opinion. It's a fact. They are both scumbag thugs. Yes, most people would consider one worse than the other. Harrison still has time. Anybody think OJ was capable of doing what he did? It's not a huge leap from that level of domestic violence to being capable of murder. The point was not to compare them. The point was to illustrate that Bill will sign anyone. He has proven over and over that character is meaningless to him. It's disgusting.
You seemingly, 1) didn't read my entire post or 2) you read it and misunderstood it or 3) you read it, understood it and responded in an intentionally disingenuous manner. Based upon your response, I'm guessing it was #3. Attribution, by definition, is not opinion. There was nothing I wrote which could be construed as me saying that whether or not either incident occurred is a matter of opinion. They both clearly did.

You are correct. I misinterpreted your intent and assumed you meant something other than what you wrote. I apologize for putting words in your mouth.

There are groups of fans in every fanbase that would have no problem rooting for Hitler and Bin Laden if they could make plays on a football field. Bucs and Steelers fans have no issue rooting for rapists. Chiefs fans root for a cowardly little ***** that beat his pregnant girlfriend. Some of them are morally bankrupt enough to not care. Many others deal with it rationalizing and minimizing. I'm not going to get through to people like that. And I'm not going to waste my time trying. If you have no issue with rooting for a piece of ****, good for you. It is what it is.

1. The bolded section officially ends this discussion, in accordance with Godwin's law.

2. But since that never happens... I have no idea who beat their preggers girlfriend on the Chiefs. I know that Rothlisberger is "Rapistberger" in our forums, and there's a sexual assault accusation in his past (very on point during this present me-too moment.) There are a couple thousand other guys in the league, probably dozens with some reason or another that they're "pieces of ****." Our QB and I believe coach and maybe owner were boosters for a candidate who had similar blemishes.

3. We cut a guy loose when he was wanted for murder... which I think is the right thing to do. It wasn't something that happened and would have been prosecuted 10 years ago if it were going to be prosecuted. It was an ongoing case.

4. The game we all know and love depends on turning the brains of its player to mush. We're not going to worry in 25 years who "should have been" pursued for something 10 years ago at that point. It's going to be how the hell fans couldn't stop rooting for anybody playing this game, from what I can tell. Well, I can't stop watching, maybe you can. Actually I can. I choose to keep watching, because it's a great game, with a huge downside. There. All done. Glad they're paid well to play in this tournament model of success.

4. You aren't a Pats fans anymore? Because my morality's not tied to the Harrison signing, that's for damn sure. If you think yours is, go. Now. Otherwise you're complicit, just like you're complicit in whatever CTE damage a couple thousand young men are facing in any given moment.

Those are the facts for you. Now that it's clear, given the high moral standard you're demanding, you're complicit in a monstrous team in a monstrous sport. So why bother with the Harrison signing or the Pats - this is not a very nice sport, and the people in it aren't all Mike Brady. Just follow a freakin quidditch team or something and you won't run into this kind of thing.

I mean there has to be a reason that the Steelers didnt play him at all, right ? Apart from all the lol Tomlin memes and jokes he must have lost more than a step to be released unceremoniously around week 16.
Agreed that is what puzzles me. The Steelers and Tomlin knew of that this result was realistic and they did it anyhow.

I thought it was mildly interesting to hear the Squealers reached out to Harrison in an attempt to bring him back and he of course declined.

RW, is that somehow confirmed? If not it could simply be PR or media created to make the move look less irritating to the irrational masses. Not saying that is the case but consider:
Tomlin first: JH you aren't playing games for us except a game here and there you'll get a handful of snaps. Expect to have virtually no snaps in most games.
Tomlin second: (getting ready to start our playoff run) we need the roster spot and maybe you are too vocally unhappy about not playing. We have decided to cut you.
Tomlin third: Wait JH, wait! I want you back, I always wanted you back. (he expected JH to say "you had me at hello"?).

To me that all seems almost hilariously incongruous.

IMHO the whole playbook thing, I suspect, is a bit overplayed. The Patriots have 16 games of film on Pitt. I'm guessing we don't need Blechley Park to crack the code of what their plays are, how they call them, when they call them. Plays almost always are called in through radio(?) and if Ben/the D Captain can't alter their audible names/signals then there is no hope for them to start with. I'm not saying he'll have no insider value of knowledge but I suspect its effect is pretty small in the grand scheme.
Basically I hate the mealy mouthed crap of 'we wanted him back'. If Tomlin/the boss felt a different LB gave Pitt a better chance to win and JH not getting snaps is what was best for the Steelers, and the roster spot is needed for a weaker area/better prospect, as well as any concern for locker room negativity for a Steeler stalwart being essentially benched, then cut the guy. And if asked about it say "I make decisions based on what I think is best for the team" and move on. "We wanted him" to me seems a pretty odd statement given the circumstances leading up to and the cut itself.

That's not really all that different from this place when Welker went to Denver.

I was trying to come up with the equivalent Patriots Player -> Rival transaction that would've really bothered fans.

Is Ty Law to the NYJ #1? Welker to Denver is a strong contender. What other candidates are out there? Irving Fryar made 4 pro-bowls after leaving... were people furious when he went to Miami?

It's been discussed ad nauseum here in PA. Harrison is a liability in coverage, and Butler wants his guys to play alot of coverage. Dupree, and Watt are the future and getting all the playing time. Harrison was pissed he wasn't playing, and spoke up about it. Maybe it was getting awkward in the locker room. I'm not buying the "guy can't play anymore" crew.
I hope that is the case. It would mean Tomlin is a completely moron if he knew Harrison could still play and chose to release him knowing that the Patriots were thin at the position and would almost certainly come knocking on Harrison's door.

good point. Tomlin would never do anything so stupid as that...it'd be like, uh...oh, I don't know...uh...like doing doing something so absurdly stupid it makes a you tube laugh reel...sorta like this ------>v

So how is Harrison now? Anyone know if the dude is past his prime? How much would he improve our defense? I mean this isn't a guy in his prime anymore as we all know
