I find the term "virtue signaling" sort of ******ed, sort of Orwellian. That said, we had a murderer on the team, a straight-up plain old murderer. Granted, we cut him when we found out he was a murderer. I don't think the Pats can claim they are running an organization that will find out every detail of the players' free time, nor do I think the NFLPA lets anybody do that.
I'd really love it if everybody behaved like Mike Brady from the Brady Bunch, or failing that, Tom Brady, after the whole "OMG he dumped Bridget Moynihan" thing. Not the part about the actor who played Mike Brady's orientation, I mean his sense of squeaky-clean morality. I would, really. Also, don't sign people with tattoos dabnabbit. And can we get some trust falls up in here for training camp?
Don't be stoopit. If you're into the Pats because you believe they were once some kind of holy cathedral of Dudley Dooright goodness in the NFL, I'm sorry, but while that's a desirable aspect that any team would wanna have, the "Patriot Way" we've learned about is mental toughness, team-first, no excuses, no distractions. Play to win, do your job, play within yourself. If you're a star be a dependable star, if you're a "dependable," you might end up the star in a big moment - be ready for that situation. Be ready for all situations.
They're adults when they get there. I am sure they get told don't break any laws, and I'm sure there are trainings on that especially rookie year. You only need one wife, or girlfriend. Blah blah blah.
But you sort of trust your adult football players to comport themselves in accordance with the law. BB doesn't have a past as a wannabe priest like Lombardi -- but I know he does preach taking people as they come, along with the situation when they're off the field (not "accept whatever crap they come with," more like realize that you can't carve off football, that a whole life is rising or falling in front of you.) But the difference is, I don't think BB specializes in reclaiming whole lives to get the football part.
That said, ten years ago Harrison screwed up from what I can tell from a brief read here. Not bad enough that he's out of football or under arrest. So I dunno how the team's besmirched by signing him.
Maybe I need to study up more on who did what when off the field. But unless this guy has corpses buried out front by the rose garden or some ****, the question is what he can do on the field.
