My grandparents watched it but I do remember it being on when I was over their house in the 70s as a kid. I want to say it was early Saturday evening?
I grew up with Solid Gold which was blown apart by MTV.
Solid Gold was lip-sync. I had a crush on the Solid Gold Dancers lol
Thanx for dredging the memory banks...now I got that facacta mouse Topo Gigio running around inside my head going "Eddie....Eddie!!!"Don't know if you were old enough to remember the Ed Sullivan show, but All of the musical acts appearing on it sang their songs live... That's how the Doors got themselves banned from it; and Mick Jagger famously gave an eye roll when singing Let's spend some time together...
Soul train loved it ....My mom Loved to watch Lawrence Welk, late afternoon or early evening on Saturday...or was it Sunday?
Solid Gold was ok, though I preferred Soul Train... American Bandstand was ok too, though I believe the acts that appeared on it all lip-synced their songs...?
For this reason i am perhaps more forgiving than most of this instance. This is the big problem. I actually see him as a key to everything going on with the team. I mean, if he and Gonzo lock down the outside with JJones taking the slot, we can unleash havoc with Dugger, Peppers, Phillips and Mapu covering everyone else (TEs and RBs). Let Judon, Uche, Barmore and Wise pin their ears back knowing the back end has it covered.
But Jack Jones is a damn key to all of this.
SNL is the same. It certainly separates the men from the boys in terms of playing.Don't know if you were old enough to remember the Ed Sullivan show, but All of the musical acts appearing on it sang their songs live... Captain, you're on the clock!During the 1960s, it was must-see tv in our household every Sunday night, though for most of that time if Monday was a school day we kids never saw all of it, probably just half of it, similar later on to the first few years of Monday Night Football because of its 9pm kickoff...
Proof that the concept of time & space for a single-digit midget was still developing: When it was announced at the beginning of one particular show that Spanky & the Our Gang were going to perform, I asked to stay up until they appeared because I ass-umed that these were the same kids as those from the Little Rascals shorts - you know, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Porky, Darla etc... Needless to say, I was incorrect in my ass-umption...
I had two old aunts that lived with us when we were kids, always watched the Ed Sullivan show and Lawrence Welk. Shirley Temple movies were my aunts favorite on Sunday Afternoons, as long as she made her peanut better fudge I was happy.During the 1960s, it was must-see tv in our household every Sunday night, though for most of that time if Monday was a school day we kids never saw all of it, probably just half of it, similar later on to the first few years of Monday Night Football because of its 9pm kickoff...

So much about the old economy was not about talent but about who controlled the distribution of information. I doubt Ed Sullivan would even have a successful podcast today. Are we talking about
