Jack Jones News Update Thread

Nigel Bradham got arrested for bringing a loaded gun to the airport in 2016, case ended up being dropped because his defense was "he forgot". The difference is Bradham did it in Florida where they don't care like 39 other states. Jones i'm sure there'll be some anti-gun DA that wants to make an example.
Yes, an anti-gun DA that follows MA law and will of the people, same as in your FL example.

Stupidity and arrogance. The former loses football games and the latter can disrupt a team.
Nothing he did indicates he is football stupid or any type of disruption.
Should we cut players because they suck at chess but think they are good?

I live in a Red state and I believe that Jones should serve time.

It just goes to prove that gun laws dont work. This doofus could care less about them.
They don't work, but I'm thinking it would be racist if Jones served time while Hunter got a diversion class for a felony gun crime.
Yeah political...so shoot me.

I heard a portion of the defense attorneys comments, my first reaction was why is she so angry.

What set her off to go off on how it’s a race issue? Did a reporter bring it up or was it that she had it planned the whole time?

If you're talking to me then I'm not "rooting" for the player to be cut. He put himself and the team in this position. The quickest and maybe in the long run the best decision here may be cutting the player now. Regarding his conduct, the team thought it was serious enough to suspend him (which is a rare occurrence).

No, I'm not saying exactly that. I think Kraft fears having to answer a single question ever again about his legal issue. So yes, that for sure. And therefore anything that even remotely could bring up his legal issue he would want to put to rest as quickly as possible.

Yeah sure, look, no one is going to turn this into a feel good story about the New England Patriots so you can forget about that ridiculous stretch.

What?? I'm saying Belichick should cut him. I've said it multiple times. You think I'm going to then "rip him" for doing something I'm on record advocating for multiple times? That doesn't make sense.
You are endorsing him being cut, you are arguing for his release.
Why would cutting a starting level player be “best in the long run”?

There is absolutely zero chance that Kraft lays around fearing that if a player commits a crime, the charge he was cleared of will get brought up. That’s ridiculous.

I have no clue what feel good story you are talking about. Im saying keeping good players and therefore winning more games is worth the risk of “people passing judgment on the player”.

Yes, I have absolutely no doubt that you want him to be cut so that you can use Jack Jones as an example of a bad pick to criticize Belichick. I also have no doubt you want the patriots to not do well as long as Belichick is here for the very same reasons. I think I am in the majority in having that opinion about you.

Perhaps this is a demonstration that gun laws do work. Don't you believe that this arrest will be a deterrent to others?

Would it really be more effective to assess the federal fine as the only deterrent?
I mean, it is a good point, and a data point however you feel about gun laws. The fact is, you can make a gun law, you can enforce the gun law, and it will have an effect. You can not like the effect, but it is a good datapoint that you can't say they never work. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Of course, in the argument-factory in the NRA, that just becomes "When there is 1 gun law, it is only a matter of time until your president is brought down through his son because of gun laws, or your super bowl hopes are dashed by the Gazpacho Police overzealously trampling your rights."

Good point. I can't see any difference between losing at chess and trying to take firearms on a plane.

This is an update from Mike Reiss regarding the charges:

"Two of the counts against Jones carry mandatory minimum prison sentences of 2½ years if he is indicted and later convicted. Two other counts carry mandatory minimum sentences of 18 months if he is indicted and later convicted."

On the brighter side, the attorney appears extremely well-qualified and aggressive.

So at least he's got that going for him...

Definitely has the bulldog look.

let's not forget Bill the GM personally targeted Jack Jones. He knew Jones had a checkered past, Bill the GM knew Jones was a risk...got kicked out of USC, had 2 felony charges...even Herm Edwards had some concerns about Jones...but once again, Bill the GM goes bargain shopping (just like Aaron Hernandez) and take a guy with a criminal history just because he's a "bargain" in the late rounds

And it hasn't worked out. The risks are coming to fruition. Time to accept your miscalculation and move on (again).

Move on to the next bust reach is more like it.

Should've been Tariq Woolen.

Declared at the ticket desk, unloaded, clip removed in a locked container. Ammo is allowed can't be in the same box as the weapon.. It can't be loose in say an ammo box. Has to be in a slotted holder, typically just put it back in the box it came in.

Easy peasy. Takes 5-10 minutes.

And everything put inside your checked-in and Not your carry-on luggage, right?

Your feelings on the laws do not need to be shared!

You said he shouldn’t be on the team because he is stupid. I just showed a different version of stupid to illustrate that non football intelligence issues don’t cost teams games, after you suggested that because he took a gun on a plane he would make bad football decisions

Here's an idea... cut the player so the team doesn't have all of these discussions and debates (which are going to get increasingly contentious and divisive) hanging over their head for the next several weeks/months. Keeping the player is going to be a nightmare for the team.

I don't think anything that happens here, or anywhere like this, is even on the radar of the team, much less of concern to them.
They'll have a few minutes in a team meeting about it, and that'll be that.

Glad to see Jones' lawyer playing the race card...

Scapicchio also addressed the coverage of Jones’ arrest.

“It’s the social media, and the media, who have turned him into a thug, who have labeled him a thug, with no evidence whatsoever. Because he’s a young Black man, all of a sudden, he’s a thug. That’s what happened here,” she said, before adding “That label that was attached to him through social media almost got him fired, and it was completely unfounded.”

Her quotes are based on what happened here in the forum. All you guys who introduced the "thug" term are responsible for her diatribe.
