Johnson would have to be on board but I’m sure Salah and Douglas had no objections.No. This is a Woody Johnson move, not Saleh/Douglas.

Do people really think Rodgers is going to take a huge pay cut? My guess is he will not give up a dime and salary will be converted into bonuses to bring down his 2023 cap hit.
"if his goal is to win a couple more rings"""...LMAO!!! and the best part is...YOU are serious! Is that you RayRay19?I doubt there'll be much of a pay cut, if any.
Though if his goal is really to win a couple more rings... the amount he'd make by doing that in NY would be well worth it.
I'm just glad to hear he's motivated to help build a winner now while also saying he'll be around this summer to work with the guys. Dude really seems motivated.
Who can blame him though? He spent decades with Green Bay. Hardly a historic franchise like the Jets. He must be loving life now.

Well, hell, if he wins ONE ring he might as well hang around for TWO. Right?
Do you specialize in reading moronic minds? You seem to have quite the channel to BB there...Well if we flounder to a 7-10/8-9 record again and limp into 2024 with only Billy's quest to pass the hated Shula as something to which we should look forward, then for the sake of the T-E-A-M (a concept which Billy has forgotten or ignored) he needs to be Fired before that's allowed to happen.
Or 3.
Rodgers was 21st in DVOA and 27th in QBR last year -- better than Mac was but not better than Mike White.Mike White completely sucked.
His QB rating (75.7) would rank him 32nd in the NFL among qualifying quarterbacks.
The only guy below him? Zach Wilson (77.2)
The Jets had the worst quarterback situation in the league last year. Rodgers is objectively a massive upgrade.

The cap is crap. As you mentioned, there are plenty of ways to move money around as we've seen with other teams.Eventually you pay the piper to some extent but a lot of it happens organically to some extent. You sign a big name QB to big money and keep kicking the can down the road until that QB ages out or leaves then you reset the roster with a young cheap QB and jettison off some of your other high priced guys. If a team really wants to keep a player they will find a way to do it. There aren't really many players teams truly wanted to keep at a specific salary that they just couldn't keep because of the cap. "Cap casualties" are usually guys that wouldn't take a pay cut or guys who a team deemed as overpaid based on their level of production. My whole thing with the cap is there are so many ways to maneuver around it for so long that while you have a good QB in his prime the cap really isn't a factor. It is only a factor when you move on from that QB and at that point you just slash down the roster and start the rebuilding with young cheap guys. The amount of time teams can kick the can gets longer and longer with the way the cap keeps increasing.
I hope Rodgers isn't Favre 2.0. Favre's Jets knocked the Pats out of the playoffs in 2009 with a win in Foxboro.I think it will be a Favre Jets 2.0 season. Average play, average numbers, and a few hissy fits with the media and then he rides off into the sunset or tries to force his way to som other NFC North team for one last chance to embarrass himself.

Why would he? Brady clearly wasn't in decline. He was fresh off a SB win in 2018 and a 12-4 record in 2019 that would have been 13-3 with the top seed if not for the blown call vs KC. Brady then went on to win another SB and come within a dumb coaching decision the next season of going to another.Did you say this about Tampa in 2020?
What makes you think that fans who criticize the team are not fans but you are? Maybe it's the blind followers like you that are the reason the team is in decline. And whatever you do don't play golf. I can tell that you don't have the stomach for that game. After reading through the some of the posts on this thread, I can't help but think that our current team aggravates the **** out of some "fans". I can certainly try to understand why and can empathize with those who might feel this way. However if this team and its management sucks so bad why then why chase the aggravation? Perhaps golf might be a better choice on Sundays as long as you don't put too many balls in the woods or the water. Or if it's too cold to play golf then perhaps banging your head against the wall if you get bored might be a better choice.
Seriously though, has anyone ever thought that A Rod actually belongs on the Jet's? That A-Hole is a perfect fit for Jets! Consider these possibilities: He struggles and is replaced by Wilson and they have a losing season or the deal with the devil is successful and they win the SB but have to wait another 55 Years for the next one. Either possibility might or might not happen but it does keep happy thoughts alive while we wait for the Pat's to rebuild. . .
Hopefully Arod gives the Jets a discount.
