Is Vince Wilfork the best 3/4 Nose Tackle in NFL?

As a guy who seen the Wilfork shot on Lossman only on Youtube, it certainly looks like he took a cheap shot on him. I know you guys don't like that very much and I don't think he intentionally tried to take out his knee but he was def falling and threw his elbow out there to try to get a piece of Lossman. Also, the eye gouge was a little chicken ****, which was clearly intentional and attempt to cause harm.

First off, good analysis on the NTs. Now, to defend my boy-

Things of note about the Losman hit:
1) Being tackled from behind
2) Cannot fall on your hands (350 + tackler = broken wrists)
3) Can't see out of your facemask at that angle
4) Split-second timing of the play
5) Losman admitting he did not think Wilfork intended to hurt him


I mean, it's not like he did something blatant.

As for the eye-poke:

And come on, if he wanted to cause harm, he would've. It was a warning shot- probably due to the violent facemask on Wilfork on the previous play, as well as retaliation, perhaps: see the image above from the pre-season game.


Not saying I'm happy about either of the actions, but things are not always as they seem.

You're right, but there's really not much point in talking sense to a Pats fan, as I have learned. They're under the impression "SpyGate" wasn't cheating, drilling a QB in the knee with your elbow and poking someone in the eye isn't dirty. Rodney Harrison never got caught using performance enhancing drugs and he isn't consistently the player with the most personal fouls in the NFL, etc etc etc.

There was no eye gouge. And Wilfork certainly didn't throw his elbow out intentionally. Unless you think that Losman purposely stepped into Wilfork as well as Losman made the throw.

Now, on to talent, Jamal Williams and Casey Hampton is certainly up there too and I think that JWill, CH, and VW are in a league of their own for 34 NT. Now, considering that CH is 3rd on the totum pole, IMO, and JWill has been hurt all year, I would consider VW the best in the league right now. Now, if JWill is healthy, he is the most dominante out of the three. Who seen the MNF game against the Steelers where JWill was being triple teamed all game and always found his way in the backfield. His size and his ability to use his hands and footspeed are just a tad better than VW. Now, I'm not sure that JWill will
EVER return to last years form because he's just been extremely banged up lately. I think that Brandon McKinney is going to be JWill's replacement when it comes time to retire but he has a WAYS to go until he's replaced.

But yes, VW is the best 34 NT in the game TODAY.

Thanks. VW is the best 3-4 2 Gap NT while JWill is the best 3-4 1 GAP NT. I don't know if JWill could handle the 2 Gap. Probably. But its hard to say since he's never played it.

1) There was no SpyGate. Its a media fabrication. The Patriots got caught breaking a RULE. Not cheating. There IS a difference. Wearing the wrong socks is breaking a rule, but its not cheating. Teams ARE ALLOWED to have video equipment and tape whatever they want, as long as its from the places specified by the NFL. Unfortunately, on the sidelines isn't one of them. Cheating would have been having video equipment in the locker-room and reviewing the tape. That never happened.

OH, btw, I think its hilarious that the Commissioner, who levied the fines and penalties, said that the Patriots did NOT cheat, yet you still sit there in all your ignorance and claim they did.

2) Wilfork was taken down from behind by Brad Butler as Losman stepped into the throw. LOSMAN said it wasn't intentional. I am sure he'd know more than some moron like yourself, Buffalo_Jill.

3) Wilfork did NOT poke anyone in the eye. His finger never touched Jacobs. Jacobs said as much. Was there jawing? Yes. Did Wilfork thrust his finger at Jacobs face mask? Yes. There was no eye gouge or finger poke.

4) No one has denied that Rodney took HGH. But HGH is not performance enhancing in the sense that steroids is. HGH helps you heal faster and is actually prescribed pretty regularly to kids who have growth problems. OH, and Rodney is NOT the player with the most personal fouls regularly.
