They made a choice for now and the future. They though that Polk was a better pick than a tackle at that spot in this years draft. You can't get every position every single year, you understand right? It's draft dependent, and FA dependent. They didn't see the issues that the line would have this year to the extent it has especially injury wise. Injuries will derail any offense. On the -22 you see plenty of WRs getting separation and many missed reads by the QB. So the weapons are actually better than people think. So the draft next year is light on high end QB talent and WR talent. It is high on offensive line and defensive line.
They got the players this year that they could get. They aren't on very long deals, and their hope is the guys they drafted will grow to take their place in a couple years. Team building is hard, you don't get every single thing right you just hope you get the majority right.
