Is there a retread C/G available?

I know, that's my point. And I believe Kline can even play in a pinch.

It may be that they are planning on bringing in someone next week, but for now I'm going to assume they are OK with what they have.

I believe Mason has center experience as well.

IMO some better depth at C/G could be helpful...but I think within the 1st 4 games we will see that were lacking depth more at CB then any other position. IMO that is the position that needs to be addressed the most.

I always liked Satele, was stout enough to stand across Wilfork and then the LOLphins traded him to Oakland

Man, if Adam Seward says so, there must be something to it.

They're going after CBs and I agree but, we've got a ton of safeties and i wouldn't feel bad to have Dax swanson activated.

Just seems, with two rooks and Wendell coming off surgery, we were depending on Stork to turn a weakness into a strength, like last year.

I'm not usually in favor of bringing in used up players, but that whole middle of the line seems a year away, now.

That is a true statement for sure. Maybe that will work out...IDK.

I agree on the depth, but I like our first three. Gone from a ryan apologist to just mystified at how he can be so bad in coverage. They signed the guy the lost to Seattle, for the PS

Yes...I am all in with the 1st 3 starters. After that it's FS all the way it seems. It might work as long as McCourty stays at FS.

Not that I am advocating for him, but since we are looking at possibilities what about Dan Koppen?

Didn't he play some last year?

We have a normal 8 OL, since our #4 TE doubles as a backup OT.

We have the normal number of interior offensive linemen, five.

DEPTH CHART
C - Wendell, Kline, Andrews
G - Jackson, Kline, Mason

Belichick chose to keep Andrews over a center who started last year: Groy. I believe that Belichick is OK with Andrews as our #9 OL for now. He might find someone better, or not.

I'm fine with him as #9. I'm wondering if he's starting

I may be misreading the tea leaves, but I have to think if the team was as worried as the fans are, it wouldn't have been a CB that they brought in.

There are reasons to be worried and I think they are, maybe Solder's emergency extension is related to it. They must know this situation for a while but made the decision at the last minute to put stork on IR DTR to confuse the Steelers.

They are going to face the Steelers with the next man up philosophy, then there are 10 days until the next game. Unless they feel this kid Andrews is a stud, BB is definitely checking his options, 8 games is a lot and no one knows how Stork is going to play when cleared.

Solder's extension almost certainly has nothing to do with Stork. That was a combo of keeping a good player and getting some mild cap relief.

Obviously this isn't ideal, but it isn't news to the team. If they felt depth was lacking, it seems likely they would have brought another body in.

I would love Barrett Jones on the 53 as an Andrews replacement; we still need, however, a replacement
with experience, preferably starting experience in the event that one or more of Kline/Mason - Wendy - Jackson is placing Brady's health in danger.

A backup Swing Tackle to develop would be nice too. Wes Johnson from the Jesters PS is somebody at whom I would take a long look.

Belichick didn't choose to keep Andrews over Groy. Groy is injured and was IRed..

Wasn't Groy injured? I believe he was placed on IR.

edit: Whoops, beaten.

Koppen is down to about 260 from the looks of it, he's done with football.

You are probably the only one who wants yet another tackle. We have Solder and Vollmer, and are paying Cannon a lot as the backup. In addition, we have Williams on the 53 and Fleming on the Practice Squad.
