He does this in every thread. He makes a statement about a player and then agrees with the person challenging his statement.

I'm not saying Barmore sucks I'm saying he isn't any good.

I agree, Barmore is a good player, I just wish he was better.

They need to replace Barmore and get Williams some help.

Defensive tackle isn't a need because they have Williams and Barmore.

I agree, Barmore isn't effective, they really need help at DL......

Barmore sucks, Gonzalez sucks, but Elliss, that kid's a keeper.

There seems to be a misconception in this forum, the defense doesn't play by itself.

He wasnt saying he didn’t care about sacks. He was saying the best play for a defense is making the qb throw under duress and making a mistake. An int is better than a sack.
A stat on being in the vicinity of the qb or “winning your battle” doesn’t capture that.

I think the discrepancy is real pressure that impacts a play vs a statistic that includes many (the majority) of plays where there really wasn’t any significant impact, you just got close.

That's the stat 'Pressure' is supposed to measure.

  • Pressures: QB pressures (hurries + knockdowns + sack plays). Note that "sack plays" in this instance include both sacks and assists.
Sacks and knockdowns are self explanatory. Hurries is defined -
  • Hurried: Times QBs were hurried - defined as a situation when the QB is forced to throw the ball earlier than intended or is chased around/out of the pocket as the result of defensive pressure
@TheRainMaker

It's a legit stat no matter how much you guys down play it. We don't have anyone near the top 20 in pressure and it shows when QBs generally sit back there with seemingly a lot of time.

You keep citing different definitions. That alone shows it’s subjective.

Any film buffs . How did barmore and Gonzo do yesterday . Feel both were non existent. Gonzo did have one amazing pas breakup and Henry tackle. Outside of that he was meh ! Pressure with 4 man front was not even visible and run defense was really bad. Donno if it's the absence of farmer, Tonga and Williams which impacted barmore or is barmore just a mid level player who needs help to disrupt.

No Tonga, No Williams, No Spillane, Landry on one leg, Chiasson on one ankle. No Durden, No Farmer. Anfernee Jennings was playing DT in the 4th quarter.

Your front 7 last night was Christian Barmore, One-leg Landry, One-ankle Chaisson, and 4 other guys who would struggle to make practice squads. Barmore was doubled and chipped on virtually every play.

It cannot be understated how thin this roster is. That's what makes last night's win more impressive, at least to me. When completely healthy, in my opinion, the Patriots run 7 players out there who are NFL-starting caliber or better. Spillane and Hawkins are replacement-level players - good enough to be on a roster, but shouldn't be starters on a good team.

Gonzalez gave up 2 catches for 22 yards, solo-tackled Henry through a stiff-arm, and made a PBU that set up the fumble on the next play.

How healthy will they be by game one of the postseason? That will determine how good they are.

The stock is up after this game.
There haven't been many playoff games over the tears with such a strong defense. Maybe a handful in the last ten years.

The only offenses that scare me remaining are BUF and the Lambs.

Everyone else we can handle.

And by BUF I mean just Josh Allen and maybe Dalton Kincaid. Whoever knocks out Buffalo is going to need to beat Josh Allen twice.

Cook as well.

Josh Allen is a MAN. I can't compliment him high enough.
