Of course. The only offense that really matches up well is LA. Two All-Pro WRs, excellent QB, good OL/RBs, 13 personnel & the best play caller in the league.
That 4th down play call was not "the best". Lost LA the game.

The last SB we played against the Rams, McVay scored 3 points.

The best play caller in the league is over blown. Everyone has good and bad plays.

I think we found the answer. Sorry to all that voted RLKAG.

I will never regret that vote.

Some truths stand the test of time. The march of time goes on, civilizations crumble, stone monuments will erode, and the sun will one day swallow our planet as the universe marches on toward entropy...but it will always be true that RLKAG...P2

Maye has yet to be stopped this season despite an anemic running game.

Granted the red zone offense is concerning.

For me, the primary concern in the playoffs will be the defense against elite offenses especially if Williams and Tonga are out or aren't their usual selves.

Discuss.

Maybe. If we make it that far, it all depends on our opponent. If we get RAMS or Bears, then I think we have a shot. If Seahawks walk out on us, then I think we get creamed.

Maye vs Darnold, I'll take Maye every time.

Still think so?

As far as the D, what’s the verdict? Super Bowl quality, or no?

Yep, I'll take Maye every time. He didn't have a good game, but he also didn't get any help, and the game plan hindered him. And the defense was definitely championship caliber.

This was the first year of a rebuild for a team that went 8-26 the previous 2 seasons, and by most accounts had the worst roster in football. The end result was 17-4, 3-1 in the playoffs, and a loss to the best team in football in the Super Bowl. It was a great season regardless of the loss in the finale. The future is bright and they will win more Lombardi's in coming seasons.

Crap on the Pats offense all you but their defense showed up giving up 55 points in 4 games (13.75 ppg) and only 3 touchdowns in 4 playoff games.(4th TD was pick 6).
Maybe I have rose colored glasses but I am optimistic going forward.
When heathy this was a top five defense.

When healthy the defense was better than the offense.

I said this ^ earlier in the season and was attacked. It was true.

The defense played good enough to win. I took a long time to buy into the defense, but Milton Williams is a difference maker that makes everyone look better. Despite some significant holes on the edge and at linebacker, they were an extremely cohesive group. I give Zac Kuhr and maybe Terrell Williams credit for the unit improvement and their improvement as coaches as the season progressed. Next year's schedule is daunting, but I believe if the line can protect Drake a little better, we will be highly competitive.

When healthy the defense didn’t have many holes. They could have used one more great safety next to Woodson. Zone defense was a problem, but again that was an execution issue more than talent and improved as the season went on.

As far as the future goes, continued total improvement across the board has to happen. Drake Maye has to improve especially, Josh is not going to become a great or innovative play caller this late in his career. So Drake has to understand the game better.

They have to improve linebacker. All linebacker spots. Spillane was the best of the bunch, and he's a replacement-level player.
They need another pass rusher.
They need a safety next to Woodson.
They need another corner because I think we've seen the best of Carlton Davis.

Defense was good enough and gave the Seahawks a hard time for a half. If the Pats had a competent offense that day, the Seahawks wouldn't have been able to run enough to where the Pats eventually cracked.

The Pats edges in the run game were a weakness all season and that has to be addressed. Pass rush along the edge has to get better. A young LB to pair with Spillane would be nice. Another S to replace Hawkins.
