I would love to add asomugha and reed....Let Talib walk and draft/sign a good LDE and our defense would be set....

On offense I would rather sign a jennings or draftee than DHB....Just too inconsistent....

Asomugha will be 32 by the start of 2013 coming off a terrible season yet still looking to be paid like an elite CB. Reed would be difference maker but he is a FS which still wouldn't fix the need for an enforcer type at SS.

Why do you want to replace Nink at LE so bad? He had a very good year.

Nink did have a good year, but I tend to agree that he's more of a rotational guy than a starting LE. He's not particularly good at setting the edge on running plays, nor is he a consistent enough force in the pass rush to warrant a starter's role. JMO.

We re-signed him at backup cap $. Given the tendency for this club to lose players to injury, a great signing. Personally I think he's an average NFL starter, but that's a different issue than keeping him cheap.

Ok, after watching Asomugha, he's who I want to replace Talib if he's cut. I thought his game just crumbled, but he's just lost some speed and is prone to being torched. (Eagles safeties were pats 2011 bad) He's also just flat out bad at zone. However, he's still top notch at pressing at the line and very good in man to man.

Let Asomugha and Dennard do what they do best, press/man-to-man, and McCourty continue his role of center fielder not allowing the big play. Both CBs are poor at zone and don't have the speed to play on islands, but would are great CBs if you let them do what they do best. He'd be much cheaper than Talib and a great lockerroom guy too. Sign me up if he's willing to take a Lloyd deal.

Giants feel they need to retain both Nicks and Cruz. In that respect, they don't have much of a choice. I imagine Diehl will be next.

Yup. They just cut Canty at DT too, they have nothing there really.

A little off topic. Speaking of Cruz, my friend who is a Giants' fan is scared that the Giants will end up offering Cruz the 1st round RFA tender and someone like the Pats with a low first rounder will offer him a contract that the Giants will be unable to match.

Personally, if I am Belichick, I might consider it because Cruz could be a Welker replacement and he is much younger and faster. I don't know if he has the same durability to take the hits over the middle though (although he seems pretty tough). The first rounder might be tough to part with, but with over 2,600 yards and 19 TDs over the last two years and being only 26 does make it worth exploring.

So, he's 50/50, at best, to catch the balls you throw his way. How long do you think it would be before Brady stopped looking for the guy?

DHB has always had bad hands. It's not just the QBs throwing to him.

Hayward-Bey was the guy who had 4th round skills and college game tape, but ran a 1st round 40 yard dash. Thus when one team valued that above everything else, his dream payday arrived.

No NFL game tape really shows a higher skill level than a number of vet minimum players who you can get instead.

I suppose you may like the impressive speed he displays while not making catches. Generally that doesn't help much, though.
