We had several injuries against Tampa Bay, some possibly serious others apparently minor. We also had several players out for this game due to injuries. I thought it would be useful to have a thread to keep track of them all, and discuss.

I may overlook some, so please add any that I omit. Here’s my summary at the moment:

PREVIOUSLY OUT

Boutte - hammy, grade 1 strain, projected return unknown
Stevenson- toe, possibly (unconfirmed?) turf toe, projected return unknown

DID NOT RETURN AGAINST TAMPA BAY

Jennings - knee, no additional details
Barmore - back, no additional details

INJURED AND RETURNED AGAINST TAMPA BAY

Henderson - shaken up, in game commentary suggested concern but later ran for 66 yard TD
Hawkins - shaken up, returned to make key fourth down stop late in Q4

Any others? Any word on Barmore or Jennings?

Barmore returned.

Barmore returned.
I thought he had but then I saw posts saying he did not. I wondered if he came back for a play to give it a try then shut it down, but that was pure speculation. I’d like to know for sure. Plus even if he returned there could be lingering effects that might affect availability or performance in upcoming games.

He definitely came back in at least for a little bit. It didn't sound super serious, I think he took a helmet in the back.

It would be ****ing SWELL if the refs ever called holding.

Good to hear. I was worried when I heard back. That’s something that could turn into a lingering problem, depending on what the details are.

I’m mostly interested in whether Jennings is seriously injured. They’re going to need a roster slot or two so somebody might end up on IR. If Stevenson’s toe is going to bother him for weeks it would’ve been nice to IR him right away, but that’s 20-20 hindsight now. As it stands anyone placed on IR now couldn’t return until after the Bills game.

The NFL should ban these Thursday Night Games: that's Brutal on the Players Bodies. There's no way Players should be playing on Three Days rest: freaking greedy Owners.

Just found this in the post game thread. h/t Uptown

TL;DR: no news

Wonder what the plan at rb is if jennings is out and rham cant get back yet either. D’ernest will surely get elevated, might see another rb signed to the ps and elevated?

Yes, and iirc D’ernest has already been elevated twice. So he’d need to be rostered. If they sign another RB it’d have to be someone off the street, or if it’s off another team’s practice squad (Hasty?) they’d need to put him on the roster.

That’s why sending someone to IR seems very likely. Wondering if it might be Stevenson or Boutte? Even if Jennings isn’t injured seriously they’re so thin at RB they’ll probably need someone to go to IR to open a roster slot for D’ernest or an outside player.

Is he DTF?

"I dunno, Jim."

I think they have another on the practice squad: Rashaun Baker - RB
They’ve elevated D’ernest twice instead of Baker so I’m inferring they have a higher opinion of him. Or did they just add Baker?

They added him shortly after D’ernest along with another RB who they subsequently cut. He's behind D’ernest but he's probably the break-in-case-of-emergency option right now.

I don’t have any true evidence, but my feeling is stevenson and boutte are back for Cincinnati. If their injuries were going to keep them further they probably would’ve been ir’d right away. In that case if jennings cant go hed be a good ir candidate imo as he wont be needed anyway beyond this week-presumably. Does dernest get a 3rd and final elevation or is already out of them?

Agreed! IMO, Thursday night games should follow a teams bye week as much as possible.

He has been elevated twice, that TB game was his second by NE. He was also elevated once by Arizona (10/19, against GB) before the Pats signed him.

So I think if the elevate him again they have to either put him on the roster or release him. I’m not sure but think that they could release him and then resign him to the PS, if he does not sign with some other team’s PS. Arizona might want him back, for example. That might still be a good bet, right now I’d think the Patriots PS would be preferred to the Arizona PS

I’m assuming that Boutte and Stevenson might be day to day, but day to day for weeks. So it might be hard to project whether to put them on IR right away.

I’m not as worried about Boutte rn, because Williams and Hollins showed we have guys ready to step up. RB is more of a concern especially if Jennings is going to miss time.

Im not too concerned on either. Anyway i think Henderson needs to start getting the majority of carries now so until rham is back the other guy might have 5-10 carries, not too big a deal against considering the next 3 opponents. His pass blocking is my only real concern as i dunno whether Johnson or the other ps backs can block.

Boutte as you said we were in good hands yesterday without him. Obviously we are better with him but again the upcoming schedule certainly allows some flexibility
