Initial 53 Man Roster

Their not carrying 8 WR on the roster when that spot can be best utilized on the D-line.

If their is interest in McCoy and that’s a big IF then maybe Harris is more injured than originally thought.

or Burkhead is injured. Or whatever. Endless possibilities.

Yes, with Belichick, anything is possible, even a 53 man roster with 7 WR's. Silly me, I thought that we need 4, one of which is the backup, and 5 if the 5th is a returner (or a developmental rookie). I should stop looking at stats. As I recall, the #4, #5, #6 and #7 WR's haven't had a lot of reception in the last 20 years.

McCoy is a typical Pat run/catch back... thus the interest, I imagine. Philly seems to have the most interest, tho.

McCoy could be a fine 3rd down back for a couple of years. We have one. But I would take McCoy instead of Burkhead in a heartbeat.

Did Philly cut any of their 5 RBs today?

Tough cuts but I love this roster. They don’t seem to have a defensive set in mind when they aren’t going 3-4 and are this LB/DE heavy. It looks more they are going with a front 6-7 than it does 4-3 or 3-4. Hightower and Collins are going to get turned loose on a regular basis, and Hightower, in particular, is a beast when gets the green light. Brady gets a really strong OL, RB, WR, and defense, and even TE won’t suck when all is said and done. They have all the makings of a great team. Going to be a fun season

Don’t know, but as in Buffalo I think the rookie is getting the carries. Sanders is a really good prospect.

I still have no idea where this 'Pats are going 3-4' narrative came from.

I am just really surprised that they trust Stidham this much to keep only him as Brady's back up !

OL - is what it is. 5 starters and 3 acquisitions. Probably stand pat here. Uluemanor is likely active on the 46 as he can backup G/T. If Karras got hurt, one of the guards (probably Thuney) would have to fill-in. Bodine and Cunningham like inactive on game day.

QB - set

RB - seems like we have White, Michel, Develin, Bolden as 46-man locks. Harris and Burkhead can rock-paper-scissors for 46 versus inactive.

TE - not sure LaCosse isn't headed for IR eventually, leaving us just Izzo for now, but with Watson and Kendricks suspended to start off.

WR - crowded room and likely Demaryious Thomas returns for LaCosse. Gunner could still be cut, but I like him as a PR, he needs to bulk up to cover kicks and be more a core ST-er.

DT - not enough beef. Hope we grab a few DTs for practice squad and wouldn't be surprised to see us claim one.

DE - interesting group. Calhoun might go to IR to start the year. Rivers has a similar career trajectory to Shawn Crable. Just can't stay healthy.

LB - deep and talented. Not a ton of cover skills, so I think we use safeties on TE/RB.

CB - like Webster. Hope we can get him on practice squad.

S - lots of safeties. Not saying that's a bad thing.

Specialists - just a little worried about FG tries and the new holder. Should work itself out in time.

Roster make up and pre season looks would be my guess.

Looking at this defensive roster makes me think of the Buffalo game where they all stood up and confused the **** out of them. And I’m not saying they won’t be setting a line, it’s more like you won’t know where the pressure is coming from or backing off. It’s a really versatile front 7, and I think you can say the same about their defensive backfield. I think they’re loaded offensively, but it’s their defense I really want to see.

I'm really surprised that Obi M. made this team. I am not a believer, but he must be better on ST than a guy like, say, Munson.

Rivers made of glass. Bye bye don’t let the door hit you on your way out. That draft class was abysmal

Let's hope Harry is not going on IR that would be horrible for him a young WR.

Surprised the Burkmeister didn't make that list. He'll probably make some injury list Sunday night though.
