Tom Brady Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com
He's not worth $25-28 million. Not anymore.
This year, in full seasons since 2004 (The
emphasis)-
Yards - Worst
TDs - Worst (Has a shot at 2006's 24, and 2013's 25 this week)
Completion % - 2nd worst (currently 61.1, should be safe from 2013's 60.5)
TD %- Worst
First Downs Passing - Worst
Yards per Attempt - Worst
Yards per Catch - Worst
Yards per Game - 2nd Worst
Rating - Worst
In relation to the rest of the league this season, 2019:
Yards - 9th
TDs - 14th
Completion % (Min 100 attempts) - 33rd (overall 60th)
TD % - 26th
First Downs Passing - 8th
Yards per Attempt (Min 100 attempts) - 32nd
Yards per Catch (Min 100 attempts) - 32nd
Yards per Game - 14th
Rating (Min 100 attempts) - 24th
Not a single one in the top 5, not even inside the top 8, and several of those are bottom third of the league. By the way, 23rd in sacks, the only playoff QB with fewer (who didn't miss games) is Lamar Jackson (27th).
Brady's making $23 million this year. He's done nothing to deserve a raise, considering he's gotten demonstrably worse. You could get a Teddy Bridgewater for comparable money, who's had a better year by pretty much any measure, and he's still got upside.
Brady was the best player in the history of the franchise - but he's not that guy now, and while I expect half of you folks to leave when he does, I'll still be rooting for the laundry, just like I did before.
