One of the excuses that people tried to build into the Welker fiasco was that Welker's numbers would drop way down because he'd be sharing the ball with all those other guys. Now, that wasn't happening, and Welker was on a pace for his usual 100+ catches before the concussions, but the point remains.
If the theory is that more receivers = fewer catches as it was when people were trying to defend the Welker move, why should we be expecting 100 catches from Amendola if he's going to be sharing the ball with Gronk, Edelman, Dobson, Thompkins, Boyce and, maybe, another receiving TE?
Because, let's be honest, Edelman reached 100 catches because Brady didn't really have anyone else to throw the ball to. After all, that's how the theory goes, and Edelman was targeted almost twice as often (151-83) as the next receiver, according to ESPN.
