Are you disappointed if you hear

With the 27th (or 31st) pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select:

Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame OR Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor OR Mohammed Sanu , WR, Rutgers

Are people going to be pissed if they hear any of these? I for one would be happy to take any of those 3 with either first round pick....

Floyd Probably won't fall to us there, but if he does I think I would be happy. Sanu I'd be equally as happy with.

I like Kendall Wright but don't think we need him.

I'd be really surprised. Floyd and Wright are going to have to have an awful combine workout or have an off the field issue to drop that far. Sanu might be an option depending on how his combine and workouts go but I'd more see them trading back into the start of the second round and picking him. If his

Love Wright, wouldn't mind Floyd, hate Sanu.

don't want Floyd, fine on Wright, would like Sanu in the second. Sanu has Patriot written all over him especially with the Rutgers connection.

Why do you hate Sanu???

I don't hate him. But, he's not much of a deep threat. I read that his longest catch was 32 yards. That's kind of surprising since he played in the Big East. I don't think there's a cb I've seen even mentioned from that league. Don't think he's the right guy for us. I'D love K. Wright. He'll be gone. Reminds me of Terry Glenn. Hopefully, not a diva. Does M. Floyd come in under the drug/alcohol policy? If so, that's a gamble. A 3RD DUI is jail time.

The only WRs I'd consider w/ either 27 or 31 are Floyd & Wright, and I seriously doubt
that either will still be on the board then, especially Wright.
I'd rather use both picks on edge defenders, and see who among Sanu, Randle, or maybe
Stephen Hill are available at 49. As of now, Jeffery's off my board.

After the top 6, there's a lot of varying opinion re: the next group, and where they should be taken.
By this time next week, we should have a clearer idea about which WR is worthy of one of our 2nd-rounders.

Better than any of those three, Ruben Randle, junior from LSU. He looks like a complete receiver, articulate, professional mindset.

Professional mindset by like throwing tantrums on the sidelines when things aren't going his way?

Wright I could definitely live with in the first. But I doubt he makes it down to us.

Sanu, I wouldn't be throwing stuff at the TV. But I wouldn't be all that happy in the 1st. If we traded into the early 2nd and still got him there I would be thrilled.

Floyd, I wouldn't touch before day 3 (not rd 3). Way too many off-field red flags. Skills-wise not really our type of guy either. Big, stocky, not particularly quick.

What, like Brady and O'Brien getting into a yelling match on the sidelines?

So you want to compare a 13 year HOF QB and OC that have worked together for 5+ years to a early 20s college kid who plays a position that is notorious for divas? Not even close.

You're the one making the inference, that a guy who throws a tantrum on the sidelines is a problem. I'm just pointing out the fallacy in the logic.

You also seem to be suggesting that a 20 yr old player who throws a tantrum must be a diva... even moreso because he's a WR... notorious for divas. No point taking a chance, right?

Aren't you jumping to conclusions? Surely there are passionate 20 yr old WRs who are not divas. In fact, that passion may be something we want to draft onto the team, not avoid. Depends if it has a positive expression, or negative.

I've watched a lot of player interviews, to get a feel for mental game. Here's a pretty representative vid for Randall: Rueben Randle Post Game - YouTube

He talks about the design of a play. He talks about a teammate that was flagged for a penalty for celebration, calls it "a great celebration... bad timing"; pretty witty. I see mature, sensible, articulate, professional, outcome oriented.

I don't know the kid, but... I don't see the diva. If he is, he disguises it pretty damn well. His interview is not self-involved, it's about the game and the team. LSU fans may know him better. But I just see someone who's pretty serious about the game.

There was an interview recently with the TE from LSU. They asked him about Randle as a person and all he talked about was Randle as an athlete. Overall he had nice things to say but he sort of talked around the question and spoke very generically in calling him a "great kid." The reporter (I think it was Mike Reiss) also made note that Randle has a habit of going into a "funk" when things aren't going his way.

You think we are good if we only sign one WR overall? Madness We need a minimum of 1 FA and 1 draft pick, ideally we sign 2 FA's and one mid round pick.

Yup...before the combine everyone was saying when they watched the tape that he didn't get separation. Now we know why.

Wright also likely fell out of the first with a 4.6-40 ydd. He's only 5'10", plays the slot, and was known as a speed guy. For all these reasons he he isn't a fit for the Patriots. Certainly not in the first round.

Kendall Wright's 40 time means nothing except that he sucks at coming from a 3 point stance. He stumbled on both of his 40 attempts and still ran 4.45 and 4.5 unofficially. And he can definitely play outside for the Pats.
