I know it didn't end well but 16-0 is so freaking hard to do and it's a accomplishment worth bragging about with a banner.

We are still the only team with the guts to go for it and actually pull it off. And I doubt any other team will ever do it.

I guess this would be only team post 1972...

We did it because we ate a lot of humble pies. There was no "dabbing" . Only people getting Mossed. Props to Panthers for coming close because a lot of people didn't even think they would would have had a chance to be a playoff team let alone a chance to be undefeated.

This was the only good thing that happened yesterday.

Here's my take:
This may sound strange, but winning the Superbowl is a regular occurrence. Someone will win the Super Bowl every year. It WILL happen again this Feb. That is why an undefeated season is something to strive toward. It is something that is very far above and beyond just winning a Super Bowl. That's why it never has happened since 1972. I don't remember every team that's won the Super Bowl even the last 15 years. Can't name them. It's too common for that. But an undefeated super bowl champ though... that is for eternity. I don't understand people saying "who cares about an undefeated season, the real goal is just to win the super Bowl". Going undefeated is hard, and that's why it's amazing and unforgettable in the annals of human achievement. Go ahead and set your sights on the Super Bowl. I'm right there with you, but if you have a chance (13-0?) to win out and go for it all, I say seize the day. I'm cool with the 16-0 banner, even with the heartbreak at the end, because I believe the team had a responsibility to go for it all when they were that close. The fact that no one else has done it in a 16 game season is testament enough to the difficulty. I'm proud that the Patriots went for it all, despite the outcome.

Personally, I have no problem whatsoever with the 16-0 banner, and feel as though it was still a tremendous accomplishment. After all, no other team in history has achieved a 16-0 regular season, or even an 18-0 start.

That said, I can certainly understand how it may piss some people off and act as a reminder of disappointment. It's tremendously unfortunate how things fell apart on a once in a lifetime helmet catch, but I'm not sure that disqualifies the entire season from being memorable.

I really don't think another team will go undefeated again in today's NFL! That s*** is just too emotionally draining on a team. Now Mercury Morris & that annoying crew can pop out the champagne!

A bit of hyperbole in play here I think. Too emotionally draining? Try working in an ER or saving innocent children from destructive homes EVERY day. Going 16-0 and having to hear some talking heads opine about it? If that is emotionally draining to these guys then they're in the right profession.

19-0 we cant have...so ill take 16-0 as a consolation prize, and its a damn nice consolation prize fellas

16-0 reg season has never been done, that banner deserves to be up there and stay up there

i hope no one else goes 16-0 anytime soon

Apparently, the banner has been removed. I hadn't noticed. Then again, I haven't been attending the games in person either.

Damn straight. I'm proud of their audacity to go for immortality in the face of what the league office pulled on them that year. I hope BB and Brady never lose that gumption.

16-0...good accomplishment, could have been done by a bunch of teams had they really tried.

+315 point differential...probably will never be broken or even approached.

I'm proud of the year. I think its a shame that some choose to downplay the greatness of that team just because they didn't win one game. Granted it was the biggest game of the year, but still. Ill never forget 07. The joy and the pain.
