Hopkins Headed to Tennessee

you are acting like $13million a year on a 2 year deal is a huge risk....for a guy who had 700 yards in 9 games last year.

once again we paid Agholor $12million and gave Jonnu smith $50million for 4 years. neither of those hurt us. and those were FAR worse contracts
That’s my feeling.

I get being conservative and not ****ing up your future for moves. In no way should they have done crazy cap tricks to bring him on which will lead to dead cap.

But you have the cap space available and a full roster, you have to do it.

I guess they can frontload extensions now but they are in amazingly good cap shape right now and the future that (imo) it’s better to use the cap now on players to help win.

Extremely disappointing. It was the one thing left out there that would have changed my opinion of the team. This also is one instance where bringing in O'Brien worked against the team.

Great move for Tennessee but this is really going to test Hopkins statement about getting it done with lesser quarterbacks for his entire career.

I can see Tennessee winning their division but making noise in the postseason is still doubtful.

So Dhop picked the Titans with Will Levis as QB instead of Pats and Mac. He will wish he didnt sign with the Titans. Now, we have cap space and we need another RB. Go get Dalvin Cook to pair with Mondre and we still need a LT. Go after Taylor Lewan or trade for a LT. I am fine with the WRs we have since we have 2 good TEs and a real OC who will use them. I would even say target another MLB as well.

Very disappointed. I think the real question is how does the team feel tonight? How do the players feel? How does the front office feel? We know how New England fans feel by this board. Some of these guys gotta come in Monday an face the music. What do you say to Judon, better luck next time?
Cry more

Kraft paid $398,000 per catch for Jonnu and Nelson over the past two years.
$49 mill / 123 catches

It appears paying excess dollars to FA pass catchers tasked with catching balls from Mac Jones creates minimal value.

Special teamers, on the other hand.......

The Pats do not need him.

The WRs that are here today are plenty good - Bourne, Parker and JuJu. 2 more young WRs have an opportunity and need to step up.

Gesicki is going to be an upgrade over Jonnu and Henry needs more targets. I see a big 2023 for Stevenson who had the 2nd most targets on the offense last season.

Plus, the Pats can scour the waiver wire and bring in roster cuts at no risk.

The Titans are a sinking ship.

Henry looks burnt out by seasons end every year and Tannehill just isnt going to take them very far.

Titans were still pretty decent last year before Tannehill got hurt... they were 7-4. And finished the year playing their 3rd string QB.

Getting DHop and having year 2 for their other receiver (forget his name) can help them get 10-11 wins and also win their weak ass division

These are the days when I hate coming to this board.

We have no idea why Hopkins chose Tennessee's offer.

We have no idea what the Patriots offered.

Hopkins was a free agent. By definition, he could sign with whoever he wanted. There is no way that the Patriots could have forced Hopkins to sign a contract to play for them. It's not the Patriots' or Bill Belichick's fault that he signed to play for Tennessee. It was Hopkins' decision. He is the only one to "blame" here.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for how DHop gave us a few cheap thrills to carry us through the bleak dog days of the off-season and how he graciously decided to go to the (hopefully) least relevant place that was being considered.

Everything is circumstantial til more evidence appears.

The best part of all this is I can still make fun of Hopkins for Roids.

You are assuming patriots offered the same. Jeff howe says our offer wasn't in the ballpark.

If so that's just cheap and unacceptable

Better weather, no state income tax, much easier division, plus more money, I doubt it was a tough decision.

Go after Taylor Lewan or trade for a LT.

A three-time Pro Bowl left tackle released by the Tennessee Titans in February over a failed physical issue is suing renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews for medical malpractice for the October 2020 surgery repairing his torn right ACL leaving him with "severe and permanent" damage.
