Greg Bedard on Brady vs Garopollo

As the OP, I read Bedard's thread differently than most of the responders here. I see it as an endorsement of Brady's long term viability here given his relatively low cap numbers.

Is this really that far fetched at all? We know what BB's roster building philosophy is. Idk about the timing but unless Brady misses the playoffs, I can't see him not starting next year. 2017 is the earliest possibility for JG to take over this team barring injury imo.

Remember, all these individuals are trolls. If Jimmy G was playing poorly, we'd be hearing:

"Why would BB draft an FCS QB in the second round. He didn't even have a playbook Mike!"

Be happy that Jimmy G continues to improve and looks like a future NFL starting QB. These people want Brady's downfall.

It is true. TB will never get the type of respect the Orrs and Willians got which is too bad because he deserves it. Then again, TB is the first Boston sports Icon that played in the "social media" era where everyone can be a pissy little twat, has an opinion, and says whatever it takes for attention.

Just imagine how motivated Brady will be this year after all of the nonsense he has had to endure.

He's going to kill teams. Unlike in 2007, he's going to do it both in the regular season and in the postseason.

So everyone's got Krafty's back now? Unreal.

As if we need another, further proof of Brady's greatness and Kraft's shadiness. Funny how he'll only pay Brady an average QBs salary but is the man most responsible for Goodell's grotesque salary.

Maybe Brady values rings more than money?

Ted Williams was routinely brutalized by the local media. He hated them and they hated him.

That is true. I wonder if it was worse than what Russell delt with. I was not around to witness any of this.

Overall though I am talking about legacy. People want to hold on to their old legacy's and what they grew up with and I think some consider TB to be a threat to that.

I have to disagree with you on one thing B29. Brady is exactly in the same category as Orr, both on and off the field. I think I even made that comment in another thread here a while back. Brady is the closest thing to Orr that I've seen.

I actually think local media found Russell a bit intimidating. That, coupled with him winning the championship 11 of 13 years made it hard to criticze him much. The Williams stuff was pretty blatant.

Heh, I remember excoriating it on multiple grounds when it came out.
Not sure what people were expecting when they had a 2002 Texans offensive line and LaFell was playing horrific and then we had Dola going Danny Phantom on us. Still hard to believe things turned around so quickly.

How can you disagree with me on something we agree on? I have stated over and over on this site that Brady is now among the big 4 and IMO has passed Williams and is in Orr territory easily. Not Russell but Certainly Orr.

I am talking about what I feel is a lot of the local media perception of this because they want to hold on to tight to older legacys etc.

I've seen both of them, and I admire Russell's achievements as much as anyone could. He was dominant for many years and at every level he played. The biggest difference is that Russell had to deal with the mediots and racists. Tom has to deal with the mediots and a league administration that stinks from top to bottom.

In the Mount Rushmore thread that came up here I think I chose Russell, Brady, Orr and Williams.

When I saw older I thought you were talking about us old geezer fans.
