grab cotchery

Grab WHAT? Eww

The title of this thread gave me instant visions of both Roseanne Barr and Michael Jackson. Weird. Threw up; better now.

Glad to see Cotchery (and B Smith) no longer Jets. But I think Pats are set at WR.

So they're going with the 34 and to-be 38 year old (this January) as their #2 and #3 WR's...this receiving corps could sponsor AARP.

Sign him and leave him on the PUP. He can be used later in season, if needed, or to replace Branch next year. He, makes big plays in big games - these guys get teams into championship games. Sign him, we'll find room somewhere, after a month or two - if not we can release him then. If he's on the PUP, he's not worth/cost much.

Can we acquire a player who goes immediately to the PUP? Wouldn't the physical be a problem for all acquiring teams?

I like the mix they have at WR right now and hope they go into the season with Welker, Branch, Johnson, Edelman, Tate, and Price. I think they set up perfectly with Edelman backing Welker, Tate backing Branch, and Price backing Johnson

Hadn't looked at it that way, but good point.

Doooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!

BRAYETTE FARVER!!!

Who would we be cutting to make room for him? Branch, Tate, or Edelman?

when I first took a glance at this thread I thought it said "grab crotchery"...I thought it was another public facepalm by Wrecks..

I don't like to but we have to give the Jets some cred on this one: by waiting until the Pats made a move to get a vet WR - Ocho Cinco - they could be pretty certain the Pats wouldn't sign Cotchery.

Cotchery can play on my team any day - he's tough and clutch and still pretty fast - but there's no room for him on the Pats as it stands. I'd be nervous cutting loose Tate or Price because they are the 'future.' Edelman is too versatile to dump with his Welker style and extensive ST play. Really the guy to go would have to be Branch and that's not going to happen - he's Brady binky, and neither are Welker or 85 going to be moved. Too bad because Cotchery would be nearly a Flying Destructo with Brady hucking him the ball. Hey, Revis, he'd yell, I've got your island right here!

If we didn't have Branch on the roster then Cotchery might well be worth having. Not the right timing...
