Gonzalez getting All Pro talk

Gonzalez didn’t make the Pro Bowl.

That's why players with elite talent want to play for winning teams, Stephon Gilmore didn't get the recognition he deserved playing for the Bills when they were never making the playoffs he got one Pro Bowl appearance and that was like a 3rd alternate all that changed when he played on a winning Patriots team.

Christian Gonzalez and his talents are going to be invisible to the average media and fan who doesn't have time nor care to watch a full 60 minutes of a Patriots team play 3-4 win football, they'll hear the hype and see highlight plays on redzone or online but they're going to see other players of a pro bowl caliber level play whole games in primetime while Gonzalez is stuck in the afternoon on an irrelevant team.

The Patriots post lamenting Gonzalez omission from the pro bowl is the stuff of a **** organization. I thought "we" didn't care about Pro Bowls? Joke of a ****ing franchise

I mean also it's harder to feel the impact of great players on bad teams. Gonzo is good, but nobody is afraid of passing against our offense and he's easy to avoid. It's not like when Gilmore would shut down a number 1 and it severely hampered a teams abilities.

He didn't make the pro bowl... would be something if he made the AP1 or AP2 team...

wonder if that has ever happened?

Im sure it must have, but i can't think of any instances

I pointed this out in a thread earlier this season (maybe a month ago), but at that time, compared to all top CB's, Gonzalez had comparable ratings but with a markedly larger amount of targets. While other CB's were being overly respected, Gonzalez was holding his own while consistently being targeted. A quick check shows that this trend has continued.

Stats per PFR:

Gonzalez:

Targeted: 88
Completions: 49 / Comp %: 55.7
Yards: 530 (Air: 364 / YAC: 166)

Patrick Surtain:

Targeted: 59
Completetions: 35 / Comp %: 59.3
Yards: 298 (Air: 206 / YAC: 92)

Much lower Yds/Comp (8.5) than Gonzalez (10.8). Both are great at making a tackle and limiting YAC if a catch has been made.

I agree with the poster above. The Patriots are a bad team and don't get alot of attention. The defense also isn't good. If he played on Detroit or Baltimore he would be a shoe in.

Best CB in the world, outside of maybe Surtain. Nobody better…

Here you go. He may break the curse we've had since 2015 when Collins was the last draft pick to make it on defense.

"Gonzalez is thriving. He has given up a 71.5 passer rating in coverage. Opposing receivers have broken only 4.8% of his tackles, and he has committed only three penalties. Opponents have completed 51.9% of the passes thrown in his direction as the nearest defender in coverage, the third-lowest rate for a cornerback with at least 400 snaps on the outside. "

Gonzo has earned it. He has been a lockdown machine on an otherwise weak Patriots defense. He should be considered for all-pro for sure. Now will they make him wait for it, who knows. Up to the voters.

Rodney Harrison in both 2003 (when he was AP1) and 2004 (when he was AP2).

I dunno who this person is but they got the stats wrong.

Gonzalez:

Targeted: 88
Completions: 49 / Comp %: 55.7
Yards: 530 (Air: 364 / YAC: 166)

Gonzalez didn’t make the Pro Bowl.
Mac Jones in 2021 and Gonzo this year clearly demonstrates that the Pro Bowl is meaningless when assessing whether a player is good or not.

Carlos needs to check those stats before posting. He is wrong!

Is Gonzalez "getting All Pro talk" the equivalent of Thornton "turning heads in the film room"?
