He's been playing like a shutdown corner since coming back from injury. TBH, he had one weak game in that stretch (don't remember which one exactly, Romo was commentating and then he complimented the guy, then all things went south)


After that play, maybe he'll get the benefit of the doubt by our fans. Butler deserves a lot more critiscism than him, and it's not even close IMO

The only time we saw Gilmore, it was making plays. Butler on the other hand, more 'get beat and play catchup' from him. Love his heart, but he just doesn't have the talent that Gilmore has. Great signing.

I think the early criticism of him mirrors that of the defense - not just with regard to the season but really any individual game - but objectively he has been a lot better than he’s gotten credit for here. And that play, well, that’s a great example (and there’s been several this year) of why he gets paid and Butler doesn’t...because he has the physical skills that make up for when effort just isn’t enough. I think Malcolm’s at his ceiling in this situation, and Gilmore at his floor. Glad we got to have both this year, and in a world where Butler understands his limitations and would like to give a hometown discount I’d love to keep him, but I don’t begrudge him the Logan Ryan contract he’ll get somewhere.

These playoffs showed why Gilmore got the money he did.

Gave up 3 catches for 19 yards in the SB. Allowed only 8 catches combined in all 3 playoff games.
