Gilmore traded to Carolina

Sherman led the team in tackles that game. Not too bad for a guy coming off his couch 5 days prior.

I'm not sure it's necessarily a good thing when a cornerback leads the teams in tackles? That kind of tells me there were several completions in his direction and he just made the tackles

Good question. Maybe he's cheap and a good locker room guy?
I may be wrong but Collins doesn't strike me as a locker room guy.

Curious to see if Dallas or the Rams or Arizona shows interest...according to Schefter, he is going to have a ton of interest.

I don't see Gilmore going to Dallas with Dan Quinn running a version of the Seahawks' cover 2. But with Jerry Jones, who knows? He could overpay Gilmore to come to Dallas.

This would be genius, driving the market up while pitting teams against each other to force a trade before 4:00pm
A trade preserves the contract, and since the goal of the holdout was to get a new contract, why would Gilly play for a new team without a new contract?

And if you're going to have to give him a new contract, would you also put draft capital into the deal too?

Without seeing him play a down of football since he got injured?

I think people are over-estimating what Gilmore's value is.

He's not the same guy who won DPOY in 2019.

Okay not sure if a corner leading the team in tackles is a good thing.
Tackles aren't a good thing? Ok
He was laying on his couch 5 dsys before the game. He recovered a fumble. Not great but not bad for being out of the league for a year.

Hoping a team in need of his services pulls the trigger on a trade before the deadline.

I don't care if Collins is a locker room guy. He is good against the run. That is what the Pats desperately need right now is a LB who can stop the run.

Sherman was horrible that game...at one point Mac was 7-7 targeting him.....I understand that he was on the couch a week before, but I think we all saw that he's not the answer at cb

IDK, it is never a good thing when a CB leads a team in tackles in a game. Means either teams are running right at him or throwing on him.
JJ led the Pats in tackles that game. Remember Eagles SB? Tackles matter.

If he isn't playing here for cheap money why would he play somewhere else for cheap money?

He's not necessarily going to sign with any of those teams. I'm just saying that most of these teams probably want him cheap.

Don't think he's taking a discount anywhere...he wants to get paid....

The goal of his holdout was to get a new contract.

Once he's released he's a free agent.

I don't see him playing this season without a new multi-year contract for big dollars.

If it isn't available now since everyone has blown their salary cap, he'll just wait for free agency in the off season.

Maybe someone will find a creative way to push the money into future years, but IMO he's not playing this season without a new multi-year deal.

Holy sh**

He led the team in tackles because they kept completing passes to the guy he was doing a bad job covering. That’s is bad, not good.

Seems like other teams can keep and sign star players. What are we missing here?

The market is so robust they couldn't find a trade partner?

Tough to trade a guy that was already sitting out because he wanted a new contract. Why would a team give up a draft pick if there is a chance the guy continues sitting out. Imagine if GB traded a 3rd for him but said they aren't willing to give him a new deal right now and will wait until after the season to talk. Gilmore would continue to sit out and then the 3rd round pick gets returned to them because i'm sure any team that would trade would make it a conditional pick. Much easier to give a free agent a front loaded contract so they can kick the cap hit down the road and keep a draft pick

That this is a 31 year old CB coming off a major injury who won't work out never mind play till someone offers him CB1 money on a long term deal?

Players love him, coaches probably not so much..
