no, it's because our leader has not encouraged mask wearing, actually ridicules the idea, and 40% of our citizens follow everything he says and does. Look at the White House lawn party for the Supreme court nominee - nobody masked or distancing, and that was just 10 days ago when we clearly know you can't do that. He publicly opposes governors who are trying to mitigate the crisis, basically inciting uprisings. He spreads the falsehood that just because you test negative it means that you're not infectious. He personally moves around people with an active case of covid the past week, infecting everyone.

The virus would have claimed 50,000 lives regardless, but the other 150k and counting are all on the Donald.

So how many deaths do you blame on protests and riots?

There are what, 8 billion people in the world now? Which means just as many different circumstances, variables, and ways that a virus can spread. For #1 of said 8 billion maybe it takes 12,0000 droplets before their immune system says Uncle, maybe for another it's just one droplet, the third's immune system simply isn't built to cope with any COVID strain while another can be bathed in droplets and their white blood cells conquer it with ease. Time of exposure is another variable. Contact typology. Is the viral load full strength or compromised by direct sunlight and UV for a period of time?

Just as there hasn't been solid proof of your new "5 second rule" there likewise hasn't been disproof either. The variability of the thousands of factors make such a determination a math problem for the ages.

I don't know about how many players or coaches would be in close physical contact with Cam in the middle of last week, given the covid protocols this year. Apparently Gilmore's contact with him was outside of the facility, but aside from other QB's and maybe McD or the QB coach, who would be in close contact with him indoors? The foundation of mitigation techniques is to split large groups into smaller ones so that if anyone gets it, exposure is limited to the small group. Schools especially elementary/lower schools are breaking large classes into smaller ones.

Not sure what country you're from, but in the US, we can't have federally imposed shutdowns and mask wearing. That type of authority is not in our constitution. If you want to blame the folks who aren't wearing masks, its another thing.

Sacrificing personal freedoms to be compliant is the best defense against a communicable virus.

I hadn’t read that he had been in contact with Newton at the time I posted that. At the very least, it seems obvious that Newton brought it in from the outside, though, and was effectively patient zero in the locker room.

40% of the population will do anything Trump suggests, you can't be disputing that. So yes, trumpsters would wear masks if he used his bully pulpit every day to encourage them to do it and shame those that didn't. No question.

Another 50% are already doing it cause it's the right thing to do, they're educated and they trust Fauci and the scientists.

The other 10% don't listen to anyone.

You'd have about 90% compliance if Trump bought in, instead of maybe 60% now.
