Gilmore tests positive now

yes if you look at the absolute worst case scenario possible the worst possible things could possibly happen
My point is that other outcomes beyond death are possible...and they are not worse case...because worse case is death

.

I actually really like the idea of extending the season by about 6 weeks and say every 6th game or so take a two week bye for all teams, restart, play another 5 games, take some time, etc. Basically play the game in blocks allowing time for anyone who catches it to isolate and recover. Probably not just shove a team into a plane to play a game that same day after a player tested positive for it just 4 days earlier

The problem with extending the season by 6 weeks or any period is that it pushes up against the start of the 2021 season, which is in March 2021. The NHL is dealing with it now, with their season starting in just a few months when it traditionally starts in October.

just stating facts. there's a very very very high chance he'll be fine. nothing worth losing your nuts about
"chances are" he will be fine, but he may not be. He could be one of the unlucky 20-somethings who die, or he could develop a long term condition that ends his career, or he could pass it to his wife who's pregnant, who could pass it to her dad in his 60's who dies from it.

In northern Maine there was a wedding with 65 attendees and not much masks & distancing. They were able to contact trace everyone that attended after a while. The toll so far is 150 got it and 7 deaths. Of those who attended, only a few got it and none died. But one attendee passed it to a friend who worked in a nursing home 100 miles away, and 6 have died in that nursing home as a result. Another passed it to someone who works in the York County jail 150 miles away, and now basically everyone (inmates and guards) at the jail has it.

Could we stop for a moment, and blame China? That country has cost us 6 months of our lives and this will probably go on for another year and a half.

10 minutes in close proximity. That transmits the virus. You can't get it outdoors from passing someone on the street. If you could we all would have it by now.

it's easier if we blame each other. we can't shame and ***** out chinese people but we can do it to our neighbors

No, we knew all about it in February, it is now October...other countries have dealt with it fine...we have not. I wonder why.

Because as Americans our immune systems are crap compared to the rest of the world. studies have shown this.

because we are a country comprised of 50 individual states, all doing things differently, because that's how the country is supposed to operate? or is the correct answer orange man bad

The very fact that this type of "argument" exists and, it seems, is actually believed by many... it's not difficult to see the problem.

It might be because millions of people would rather talk of their individual freedoms and how they were wronged vs doing what is in the best interest of the collective in times of crisis. But you do you.

You can just look what other countries did and compare it to what we did. Its that simple. You think Europe did not have the same challenges?

You can put your head in the sand and retreat to your tried and true hyperbolic reaction, but some of us prefer fact based analysis.

I think that's true. Not sure there's been solid proof that 5 seconds up close to an infected person's face could pass you the virus, but it sure seems possible if not likely. Gilmore being up close to Mahomes means he could've passed it, cause he tested positive Tues or Wed which means he had it for at least several days prior and was infectious on Monday night.

What seems to be getting lost is that if you were close to someone who then tests positive within the next week, then you need to quarantine for at least 7-10 days, which is how long it won't show on a test while still being contagious. The fact you tested negative 5 days in a row tells you nothing, you could still have it and be spreading it that whole time. Nobody seems to be doing the quarantining, whether it be the White House or these teams - perfect example was Trump going to the Jersey fundraiser after learning that Hope Hicks was positive, then he tests positive a day or 2 later. The people in Jersey may now be infected, and part of that was indoors.

If Gilmore had been hanging out with Cam last week, then the moment he heard about Cam testing positive, he MUST assume he has the virus and act accordingly - which means quarantine. Getting on a plane and playing is very risky and against guidelines. But if you're not going to quarantine, then at least avoid close contact with EVERYONE to the best of your ability. Kind of impossible when playing football, but skip the hugs and handshakes and try to avoid breathing directly on people.
The entire team was close to newton
So this would say that any team that has one positive has to shut down for 2 weeks, effectively ending their season.

Look, Japan is doing fine and they make a big deal out of taking Vitamin D, which is known to boost immune systems. Americans in general have Vitamin D deficiency, according to studies. It's not hard to link the two. As a nation, our eating habits are poor compared to other countries- hamburgers, pizza, etc. We are an obese nation and are paying for it.

Other countries haven’t “dealt with it fine”. All countries have issues and deaths, and the overriding difference between levels are population density, culture and levels of interaction among people.

no, it's because our leader has not encouraged mask wearing, actually ridicules the idea, and 40% of our citizens follow everything he says and does. Look at the White House lawn party for the Supreme court nominee - nobody masked or distancing, and that was just 10 days ago when we clearly know you can't do that. He publicly opposes governors who are trying to mitigate the crisis, basically inciting uprisings. He spreads the falsehood that just because you test negative it means that you're not infectious. He personally moves around people with an active case of covid the past week, infecting everyone.

The virus would have claimed 50,000 lives regardless, but the other 150k and counting are all on the Donald.

Or gather in crowds

You're trying to explain science and evidence of interrelated events to people who likely also fail to understand or acknowledge climate change.

Do you really think 50% of the country is going to listen to ANY leader who encourages mask use? It isn't about who the leader is. Half the country is hard-wired to resist government telling them what to do on ANYTHING.
