Giants up 38-10, throwing the ball and going for a TD on 4th and goal. Where's the outrage? Will there be a tweet from the Bills beat writer calling Coughlin a prick, hoping someone gets injured?

Nope. Only for the Pats. Belichick is the evil anti-Christ of the league. 24\7 controversy when they do the exact same thing as other teams good enough to be in that situation.

Not to mention they threw for it on every down. At least when the Patriots "run up the score" we hand it off to our running backs in the red zone but Eli is trying to pad his stats or something. The fact no one will call them out on it is a joke but at least we can bring this up in an argument when people ***** about the Patriots running up the score.

NOT TO FORGET JPP Got INJURED WHEN THEY WERE UP 38-10 and on the 3rd and goal towards the end their WR got hurt too......... BUT no one will blast them tomorrow...........

I wonder if the NY media will obsess over this for more than a week, labeling Coughlin as a classless bully.

But...But guys! The Giants are underdogs!! Everybody counted them out!!! They're just a bunch of honest, hard working guys that gave it their all. I mean, they weren't TRYING to run up the score. Not like those nasty New England Patriots, who the sports media has been ball washing since the beginning of time. I mean, when was the last time you heard a commentator say something positive about Eli or Coughlin? .

Andre Brown broke his fibula on the final Giants drive...I'm sure that was karma, right?

BB = Largely disliked by the media
TB = Somewhat disliked by certain parts of the media/fans
BB/TB/Patriots = win too much, have snatched victories away from countless team's fans, disliked on many levels simply for that

This means when a story can be written with a contrived angle of dislike/spite toward the above list? Many will plow ahead with it.

NY team = a built in media bias
E Manning = He's a Manning

This means stories that get run will be most often positive.

All Boston fans should know from reading local media what it takes to be a LIFELONG sports media writer: Is it Great writing skills? Keen insight? Strong sense of integrity? Sine we know it is not those things no one should be surprised by stories that are written, the fundamental fairness that is disregarded or the lack of sense that will be displayed from one week to the next.

There was plenty of outrage from Packers fans.

Do we really need one of these threads every time there is a blowout in the league? We get it.

Have Buffalo beat writers taken to Twitter to label Coughlin as a "prick" yet?

New york media won't throw new york team under the bus.
Not a chance.

I love the hate. It amuses me no end.

Pretty sure Coach Belichick and the players thrive on it too. Probably fuels their desire to push harder on the throttle next time.

Let the hate flow through you...

The media is allowing their hatred of BB to cloud a very important point:it's hard to get 53 guys to bring their A game every week. It's just hard. Even the best teams have down weeks. So why would you possibly dampen down your team's intensity?

Ryan Pickett noted after the Packers got their butts whipped by the Giants yesterday:

"We don't remember [what this feels like]," Pickett said, "but maybe it's a good reminder of what happens when you don't come to play. I'm telling you, we're going to take this as a positive.

We didn't come. They had more energy. They played harder than us. That's not going to happen again. If we lose, it's not going to be because a team played harder than us. That's not acceptable around here, and it definitely won't happen anymore. It's going to be motivation for the rest of the year."

The guy is basically admitting that the Packers weren't able to get hyped up for a Monday night rematch against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year? What does it take?

BB understands how hard it is to get everyone to come out with the necessary effort, iontensity and focus. The Pats have had it in spades the past few weeks. Why would you suddenly start letting your foot up on the gas pedal? It sends a horrible, confusing message to the team.

It should be simple. If a team is getting whipped and has had enough, send in your second stringers. That's raising the white flag. Then the other team should do the same (not much fun for the fans, though). But as long as the losing team is trying to score and continue to treat it like a game, the winning team should, too. It's a mockery of the game to do otherwise, and very, very bad from a coaching perspective.

Since points are part of the playoff tiebreaker rules, I've never understood how it could be controversial to try to score more points.

The Pats have been dropped from the playoffs twice by tiebreakers, so I think BB would be very conscious of the ramifications of the system, as every coach should be.

uhhh....what? Maybe you were being sarcastic and I missed it...new york media beats on new york teams all the time. Here's one we can all enjoy it.

It's a gr8 point mayo, and the Pats, unlike any other team that I can ever remember, gets every opponent's "A" game every time out.

Recent Superbowl results notwithstanding, the Pats ARE the standard that other teams measure themselves against.

sorry. Meant to say. THey won't turn a critical eye on their team neddlessly.

They will for other teams. no problem

Hey, you're only hated on when you're good. And the Pats? They're pretty damned good. Bring on the hate, hatuhs...
